I thought Verizon and AT&T already had VoLTE. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I don't know the specifics (eg. collaboration between manufacturer and carriers, et cetera). Is it because the carriers have not yet enabled it specifically for the iPhone?

You are correct, Verizon supports VoLTE. Perhaps the other poster was confusing wifi calling with VoLTE, in which he would be right. Only T-Mobile Supports that.

----------

"Also with Verizon you DO NOT have VOLTE". Fixed.

The only major carrier who currently supports VOLTE is T Mobile. AT&T will be next but not until 2015.

Wrong. Verizon supports VoLTE. I have that turned on and it works. You are confusing wifi calling with VoLTE. All the phone calls I make on my phone are via VoLTE.

Do you people realize the gate in Watergate means nothing aside from the fact that it's part of the name of the complex where the scandal occurred? So adding the word "gate" on the end of something does not signify a scandal, it signals the fact that you don't know your US history.

And what does this say about that

More like it's become a part of the American English lexicon. The Watergate Complex's association with the Watergate scandal has cemented its role in American popular culture.

OP is right. I was in Cedar Key FL today, I had no signal while everyone else in my family had LTE on their 5s. It seems in fringe areas, the LTE is MUCH weaker. I am on ATT btw.

If I see the ****ing word "gate" one more time...

Come on please! Let's just ****ing stop. No more gate anything threads.

Exactly....people have used the endfix "gate" since then....its unfortunate for Watergate but its part of American culture like you said. I actually like it since it makes me chuckle.

Are you on AT&T? Cause I've noticed my 5 being like that recently (it's really annoying). I don't know if it's my phone or AT&T though.

You know Gate to me signifies that they like to overdramatize things. And I'm with you, I'm frikking sick of everyone adding 'gate to something to try to create some sort of scandal about it. It's not clever, it's not smart, it's overdone, and it tends to make my eyes roll because in general it just makes you look overdramatic.

But your rant is probably better, can I steal it?

Bloody hell, these forums used to be a joy to read. Lately it's gate this gate that, apple are doomed, scandal, screw apple, get the Note 4......

#Boreoffgate

5m pre orders in chine for the iPhone 6 do not make a scandal or a crisis or a botched release.

Yes, I am in the same location. Only my i6 Plus exhibits this issue.

I have even swapped SIMs back to my old i5 in the same location and I am to maintain an LTE signal with that phone.

You might try contacting your provider and see if they have any answers. Also go to a different location away from your current cell tower and see if you drop. If all else fails call Apple and tell them of your situation. They are always helpful, based on my experience.
