The M1 Air has stayed at £999 here in the UK, but the new M2 Air is £1250. Normally Apple match the UK/US pricing (even though the £ has higher value to the $), but Apple have actually increased the UK price by £50.Wow really? It’s still £999 in the UK. Cant see how they price it any higher than that and keep it any kind of appealing, given the cost of the M2.

Ok? I wasn’t talking about third party retailer discounts, I was talking about Apple’s RRP.It’s £879 for the base model at Costco

The strange thing is that they got it fairly right with the iPhone 13, with the Iphone 13 Pro being $1000 in the US, and then £950 in the UK. Apple just make up prices as they see fit 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
It won't be an "SE" model, it'll become an entry model.Down the road, I would like to see the M1 MBA get the M2 chip and become an “SE” model offered at a fair discount. Basically, the same idea as the iPhone SE. Older form factor but updated chip.
iPhone SE + MB SE would be a great combo for students.
There will be deals on the M1 Air just like there were deals for the old Air when the Retina Intel Air debuted and still had the old version sold alongside it. Wait a month or two after launch.
I guess I don’t really care what they call it. They don’t call the entry level iPad an “SE”, but it is incredibly popular. The idea is that Apple would have a complete line-up of products that are regularly updated for the consumer market. This is how I see Apple’s current entry level or “SE” line-up, but most of these are not really branded as such:It won't be an "SE" model, it'll become an entry model.
You forgot that the S3 Watch is still sold by Apple.I guess I don’t really care what they call it. They don’t call the entry level iPad an “SE”, but it is incredibly popular. Mac Mini
Airpods 2nd gen
I cannot understand how Apple can get away or even justify doing this. If they did this in the UK, the media would criminalise Apple.Base model M1 Air increased ~$200 here in Sweden after M2 was announced :O
Amazing Apple still sells the AW S3 for £179 RRP, when you can get the significantly better AW SE for £249 RRP. With third party retailers it’s even cheaper. I got my AW S6 Unity for £239 on Amazon UK!You forgot that the S3 Watch is still sold by Apple.

* Sweidsh price match site Prisjakt shows that the best price has never been above 12k (https://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=5643685#statistics). I doubt that 3rd party resellers were cheaper even from day 1.How did you come up with that?
Web archive shows the same price in April as it does today.

* I still have my receipt from Apple Store for my M1 Air. I paid 11124 kr for it in November 2020 with student discount. That price is now 12245 kr. So maybe not $200, but more than $100.
I am upgrading from a 2020 intel i3 8gb 256SSD MBA to an m1 16gb 512SSD. Fortunately I qualify for education pricing. If I was buying new I might go for the M1 and put the money into SSD or 16GB.
It's really a soft price inflation, and is sort of a self correct for how amazing the M1 Air value was for the last year and a half.
It once used to be swap the $ for € or £ and you're done, even though that itself wasn't fair given the exchange rates have never favoured the dollar over the £ or €. Not even that anymore. I feel Apple are using ROTW sales to subsidise keeping M2 MBA and 13" M2 MBP prices reasonable for their home market. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to pay off when a lot of fence-sitters see the new prices and say no thanks.I had hopes that the MBA M2 would be “reasonably” priced… but no! It is very expensive here in Europe and I am not going to upgrade anytime soon…
That was exactly my attitude to. I steadfastly held on to my 2011 iMac for so long as my daily computer I'm surprised Apple didn't send an 'update' to nuke it lol (only decommissioned it this year)My quad-core i3 mini will push it for another year. Will hang on to it until Apple drops support for intel macs altogether.
Me, apparently, last weekend after the M2 announcement. I was looking for a not too spendy portable to do some development work (Erlang, Docker, Emacs, Postgres) on this summer and the base model (8/256) fits those requirements just fine. I know the OP is vaguely trollish about Apple's pricing; let me just say that Migration Assistant saved me enough billable time to more than cover the "extra" cost of choosing an MBA over some generic laptop. (I've never used MA before, it's kind of remarkable that in an hour I had a near duplicate of my desktop.)Who is going to buy M1 Air then?
The M1 Air is still a fantastic computer. Love the wedge shape--so easy to type on. Micro Center's got them for $829 right now, and if I didn't own a 16" MBP, I'd snap one up in a heartbeat.$0 dollar discount? Who is going to buy M1 Air then?
