Bro, you jealous or what?I get Covid and all that. But it seems Apple’s latest updates have been a bit of a waste of money (Apple Watch 6, iPad Pro 2021 models)
Cool. My TV has 33,177,600 dimming zones, though I believe only 24,883,200 can be active at a time.Blooming is a thing on 65-inch Samsung TVs because they have 792 dimming zones or less on them.
The iPad Pro has 2596 dimming zones in a 12.9-inch display.
iPad Pro 2021 upgrade is more interesting than 2020 version
- much bigger performance jump with M1 than A12X to Z
- Mini LED and hdr
- better front camera and center stage
- thunderbolt / faster storage
granted on the 11” it’s pretty incremental. And I fully agree on the watch series 6. Same with the new Apple TV Btw. Thing is at some point you really can’t make huge leaps forward anymore. I feel the iPhone is in that situation too.
Current “revolutions“ are more on the internals with the silicon switch than with the look and feel of the devices.
and on the software side (I hope)
What tv do you have? I’ve never seen so many dimming zones before.Cool. My TV has 33,177,600 dimming zones, though I believe only 24,883,200 can be active at a time.
This new iPad will still have noticeable blooming in content like the videos above.
I am interested to see reviews of it with more real world content.
The worst case will be something like movie credits, where high contrast content is scrolling and you can see the text lighting up dimming zones as it passes.

What? The new iPad especially the 12.9” is a huge leap. What other company is shipping a tablet with a processor that out performs the current 16 inch MacBook Pro? Also;I get Covid and all that. Yep these new iPads Pros are a no-brainer upgrade for pretty much everyone. Even if you bought the 2020 version, you're going to want in on these new models.
Two month lead times on new orders now. Not bad for a product I was recently told on here wouldn't be in high demand, and there would be plenty of stock to go around.![]()
It’s an OLED. I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek, but technically accurate. Each subpixel is its own zone. What tv do you have? I’ve never seen so many dimming zones before.
bruh, you dont even own the new ipp. at least wait for when we get our hands on them. Its unlikely apple would go sub-perfection on something as huge as a new screen. At the least, it shouldnt be noticeable.Cool. My TV has 33,177,600 dimming zones, though I believe only 24,883,200 can be active at a time.

It’s 1 zone per ~45x45 pixel square (and each zone will have to cover a larger area than that to blend together smoothly. It will be noticeable in certain content. It’s simple math.bruh, you dont even own the new ipp. at least wait for when we get our hands on them. Its unlikely apple would go sub-perfection on something as huge as a new screen. Agree, I’m not even tempted to upgrade from my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" still running like a champ, mini led is nothing special, if it had a oled screen, I’d most likely would of ordered one on pre order day.Why is it a no-brainer? Why would you upgrade from the 2020 edition? Yes, it has a better screen but at that price it better be. I have a 2017 iPad Pro and I see no compelling reason to upgrade.
No your thoughts are wrong. It’s easier to implement this on smaller screens than on larger screens. It’s 1 zone per ~45x45 pixel square (and each zone will have to cover a larger area than that to blend together smoothly. It will be noticeable in certain content. It’s simple math.
If it could be made in such a way that makes it unnoticeable, larger OLED displays would be dead.

Couldnt software play a role in this though? It’s 1 zone per ~45x45 pixel square (and each zone will have to cover a larger area than that to blend together smoothly. It will be noticeable in certain content. It’s simple math.

Can’t put the cart before the horse. You need better hardware before the software catches up. WWDC is a few weeks away!Probably the BEST Facebook machine in the WORLD!
Without doubt the best tablet, but too bad it’s gimped with a pathetic OS.
How earlier since its already Sunday and the official reviews are coming this Tuesday for imacs and ipads maybe WednesdayMaybe apple will let the reviews come out early, since this bloke is leaking everything. 🤔

XDR for iPad Pro is as important upgrade as M1 for Mac. Mac can run heavy tasks/several tasks at once, so the more power the better. So basically hdr content looks good. Otherwise same iPad. There’s your review.
Facebook and instragram are not even working well on ipadsProbably the BEST Facebook machine in the WORLD!
