**** this was my last straw, 6GB was never enough, apps crashing constantly due to lack of RAM and iOS's poor memory management, but holy **** I can't imagine 2TB with 16GB RAM is gonna cost prolly 3K CAD...
Yes, I’ve had many issues with RAM. And I have the 2020 iPad Pro. My issues aren’t with multiple windows, but when using apps with 3D modeling. You know using that new fangled LiDAR Scanner. Apps would crash constantly when scanning new stuff or viewing the model. RAM was absolutely an issue. I’m glad you can now choose a lot more RAM but not happy it’s tied to storage. Honestly for me, the entry level storage but upgraded to 16gb of RAM would be perfect. But with that increased base price (remember when the 12.9” iPad was introduced at $799?) and the RAM being tied to storage??. Ouch!!That much RAM for what? Did ANYONE have an issue with 6gb before? Even with multiple windows?

Still on 4gb - but even 6gb is a huge problem for one big part of their target group... illustrators. Procreate determines # of layers based on RAM.That much RAM for what? Did ANYONE have an issue with 6gb before? Even with multiple windows?
It's STILL iPad OS, nothing there is different. They would have to make the OS far different to justify buying a more expensive iPad for an overkill M1 and mini-LED.
No, there's a 16GB RAM option for M1 iMacs:View attachment 1760537
They are really gonna out-class the iMac with the iPad Pro. Wow.
But a MacBook has like one potato camera.Or you could, you know, just buy a MacBook.

I am currently illustrating a wide children’s book, which gives me 25 layers. Meaning I need to work in multiple documents and combine them in Photoshop.
I was hoping for 8 this time around. Now I am actually staring at the 1TB ipad and trying to justify the cost.
Xcode. Betting WWDC will introduce an Xcode that runs on the new iPad Pro.They have to have virtualized macOS coming at WWDC, there is no other reason you would need 16GB RAM on an iPad Pro.
There is nothing to virtualize. It should run native. If the bootloader wasn't locked down, there's no reason why you couldn't install macOS on the new iPad… other than maybe the lack of a pointer driver. They have to have virtualized macOS coming at WWDC, there is no other reason you would need 16GB RAM on an iPad Pro.
Hardware has nothing to do with it being a computer or not. The hardware was NEVER lacking going years back now. The A-series could run a full PC operating system on 6gb RAM.I think we will start to see a decline of people saying the iPad Pro isn't a computer replacement.
8gb is just the base for iMacView attachment 1760537

Pretty weird. The top spec iPad is now $2,400.
Apple is talking about how having a unified architecture will allow people to more easily port applications to iOS, but they haven't even done it for their own applications like Final Cut or Xcode. Multitasking on the iPad is still pretty abysmal.
I'm surprised at this point Apple hasn't just merged iPad OS and Mac OS pulled a Microsoft and added a "tablet/desktop" toggle to just flip between the two.
And gosh it's lighter too! (than the 12.9 with Magic Keyboard)There is the issue, you can now get a Macbook Air for less running full Mac OS with a keyboard. That still runs iOS apps now too.
I get no touchscreen but a far better rice value. You can get a REALLY nice laptop with touch these days for the same cost as $1100 (or more) plus needing to buy a keyboard).
This pricing is really making the bigger Pro a niche device to creatives and that's about it.
No reason it wouldn't until the OS is updated to support other resolutions and aspect ratios.Wonder if monitor connected via Thunderbolt will still have vertical bars ??
