I got the LG 32UL950 and using the HDMI to HDMI that came with the monitor... when my MacBook Pro M1 goes to sleep, I also get washed out colors when waking... sometimes doesn't wake and I have to open my MacBook or power on/off the monitor correct the colors. anyone have solutions?

I just noticed that after a deep sleep, my second monitor isn't detected anymore and my main monitor is running at 30Hz.
I have to manually change the refresh rate and unplug the second display and plug it in again.

I have an M1 Mac mini connected to a LG 32UD99-W monitor with a USB-C cable. Sometimes the screen doesn't wake up from sleep. Recycling the monitor power gets the display back, but the USB ports on the monitor stop working and doesn't show up on the System Profile anymore. I have a Blue Yeti mic connected and it doesn't light up when this happen. Rebooting the Mac mini fix all the problem.

I think there is something different with the USB implementation on the M1 Mac. I also have an NVMe to USB-C enclosure that works intermittently with the M1 Mac while works perfectly with other Mac. I hope this got sorted out soon.

Will a Apple thunderbolt display work with the new Mac Mini ?
i take it will with the thunderbolt 3 to 2 adaptor.

For the weird colors, you have to deactivate the HDR in screen preferences and it will work perfectly.

Do me a favor please! Check display resolution in system report. I run a Dell 4K on my M1 Mini and have issues with video at high resolution going from dark to light. Mine shows with 5K resolution in sys report, however it is a 4K max display. Also HDMI to HDMI

Mine says the same thing... It is a 4K monitor:

Same issue here.
I'm using two 4K LG displays, unfortunately I have the washed out color issues mentioned earlier as well as some caling issues (both screens show different scaling options).

Strange. I have the new LG UltraFine 4K but in the System Report it shows as a 5K monitor which is obviously not correct... Just updated to macOS 11.01

I see the same thing on my 32UK550B. However, don’t forget the following;

If you select 2560x1440 as a scaled resolution (with HiDPI), the image has to be rendered at 5K before being downscaled and sent to the monitor.

In my case it says it’s a 27 inch monitor instead of 32 inch, but I don’t think the mentioned 5K resolution is a fault. It’s not communicated in a clear manner though 😀.

Have you tried a USB-C to HDMI cable (rather than using a USB-C to HDMI adapter and then an HDMI to HDMI cable)?

My wife has an LG 27UD58 hooked up to her MacBook Pro. Works great. Anyone with this same display, hooked up (successfully) to their M1 Mac Mini?

If anyone wonders if there is a difference between DisplayPort and HDMI on a LG 4K? You get get one extra scaled resolution (3008X1692) with DP.

The Thunderbolt Display via the TB2-3 adapter works fine on my M1 MacBook Air so I wouldn’t expect any problems.

I have LG 27UK850 monitor which supports 4k@60hz along with power using a single USB C(Thunderbolt) cable with my old macbook pro.

Now, I have ordered an M1 Mac Mini which is yet to come.

I am worried if it will run 4k@60hz using the thunderbold cable?

I also have the 4k@60hz USB C To Hdmi cable with me which I got from amazon.

But I saw in a video on Youtube that the new M1 mac mini is facing issues and is scaling down to 4k@30hz when connected via thunderbolt.

Sorry for such a long question, but can anyone help me out here?

This is such a coincidence, I have the same monitor and I am also waiting for M1 Mac mini. I will know on Dec 4th if there are any issues. I shall keep you posted.

I have bought 3x MBP M1s to connect to the LG 27UK850. Same issues with washed out colour via USB-C. So frustrating as it appears to be a bug related to the new Macs and my whole studio is full of these displays. Don't want to buy Intel machines for obvious reasons, so this is a major issue for me :(

What exactly is this washed out color issue? Can you share a video please

I'll try - you need to see the screens side by side which I can't do today. Basically the colours are much less intense than they should be and it seems to skew the colours somehow. Tried everything to correct it but nothing works so far.

Does this happen if we use hdmi cable as well? Or happens only with thunderbolt one

I have the LG 4K monitor running 4K at 60 Hz using the HDMI cable supplied by LG. No problems at all.
Sorry to tag you again, but how's things at your end now? All working fine?

Sorry I am a bit worried that's why :(

Why aren't you using the Thunderbolt 3 direct connection on the LG 32UL950-W monitor instead of HDMI?

Quick update: it appears to solve the problem if you disable True Tone display in system prefs... tried it on two different MBPs and both worked fine over USB-C after. Can anyone else confirm?
Wow that sounds encouraging!

For what it's worth we get washed out colours in our Samsung 28-inch 4K monitor, but not Samsung HD monitor, with the M1 Air

Same monitor with the 2020 Intel Air gave us no such problems.
