I'm shocked though I suppose I shouldn't be. I'm happy with my M1 PRO 16 for now. Should have bought a MAX but I'll manage somehow.

Can't believe we're already into the new year.

I just checked and you're in January if you want a MAX with the 64 GB option. The base MAX is Dec 6-Dec 13. Changing storage gets you out to Dec 15-22. The 64 GB option is Jan 7-Jan 20. So it looks like a lot of Apple customers are maxing out RAM. The range of two weeks is also a sign of uncertainty.

This is true. I've been checking it hourly for the past couple of weeks and it's been extremely slim pickings. Today was the first day I've seen this much stock come in but it disappears almost instantly. I was about to order one a few hours ago when the inventory counts started jumping but as soon as I was about to pay, my cart was empty - someone else had bought it! So I kept refreshing the stock checker and within the next hour, another store which also happens to be closer by, received the one I managed to get.

I was checking online Wednesday about 2:30 PM and just missed a silver M1 Max that someone else got before I completed ordering. Also saw one 50 miles away. Both were gone within so many minutes. Checked online frequently and about 4:30 PM a closer local Apple store had gotten both shadow gray and silver M1 Max MBP available. I did grab a silver M1 Max, and picked it up today.
