not a pissing contest, just pointing out the obvious, you acknowledge the 14 has better specs but then you throw in caveat that don't exist.

oh the screen is good but this,
oh the speaker is more bass but that,
oh who needs more ports?

lol really dude? really? i just hope no one really listened to your comments and screw themselves out of a good deal on the 14 right now.

i see your use case, and acknowledged it, several times in fact, what more do you want from me? 😂
I don't want anything from you. You have your solidified point of view. There is room for people to have a different opinion on value.

I want people who value a Pro machine to go buy the 14" MBP if they don't want to wait for the M2 as the M1 is a great value.

If it were me I value new so I would pay MORE for the M2 MBP if I was a Pro type user.

For me I am not a Pro user and a lot of people get upsold on the idea that they need much more than maybe they actually do which is the point of this thread.

If you can honestly understand what you actually need then you can save some money and not be upsold into a Pro type device if that is not your use case and you might actually be happier with the supposed lesser choice.

The MBP 14/16 M1 are terrific devices and I have never said anything to the contrary just that the redesigned air is also a terrific choice for those who like smaller and lighter laptops that still have some performance chops. That is all.

your kidding right, last page you literally said the mbp speaker doesn't get loud as the mba, and the screen has pwm flickering issues 😂😂

I was responding to your points about only specs bro specs. I am correct but it doesn't make the MBP M1 a bad machine as those things don't bother everyone but they did bother me.

You clearly aren't bothered by those things and have a different opinion. So for those who are Pro users they may value other aspects of the device than me. I get that. Different strokes for different folks.

you are not saving any money, same build mba is same price as mbp.

there is no upsold, its the same price spec for spec

car dealership would love to talk you into buying a 2023 bmw that has slight redesign although chassis and engines and electronics are about the same.

i'm not bothered cause the issues you outlined doesn't exist, it only does in your fictitious mind. for months on end i have sat next to my college with a m2 mba and the issues you brought up have never enter my mind.

Good for you. Wow my fictitious mind. Again with the personal attacks. When people start to lose an argument they tend to go for the jugular.

Could your experience be different than mine yet my experience was real?? Is it possible that two people can see different things and it doesn't invalidate either??

I was really trying hard to not bring up cars. You sound like a truck owner or a Cadillac owner or a BMW owner who wants to brag about what a good deal they got on their new ride with all the options that I will never use and paid over invoice just to get them. Or why their car is better because it has more features yet I paid less and don't care and my vehicle gets better MPG and costs less to repair. My car has a lower cost of ownership and I value that more than a bunch of fancy features I will never use. Both get to the same place and do the same function but yours is so much better because you get there in style...

Enjoy what you have. You didn't need to push your opinion on others as better and as a fact but I guess you are not going to understand that your opinion is just that....

It is upsold because if you compare M2 MBP it is going to cost more and if you want a fair comparison then you should be comparing to the M1 MBA not the M2. M1 MBA is still way cheaper than the M1 MBP 14" on sale.

Yeah lets just delete the thread if we can because so many people miss the point entirely I agree. Also your opinion on what has relevance is the
As far as I can tell you value size and weight over technical specs. What I don't understand is why you had to start a thread telling everyone.

I am not backing out.
I made a comment along these lines to you. You seem to be annoyed that people are discussing the very thing that you raised but that their opinion is different.

mbp 14 m2p doesn't exist 😂😂

even if it does, it won't matter cause the m1 mbp 14inch is a better value due to the steep discount retailer is giving out right now.

spec by spec a m1 mba is still 1400 on apple, only 200 bucks cheaper than m1p mbp, and that even has a bigger gap in overall spec.

How is M2 not relevant and a technical spec that I value? How is a redesign not a technical spec and something I value. M1 MacBook Air ddr4 vs M2 MBA ddr5, M1 MBA 400 nits screen, M2 MBA 500 nits screen. I value technical specs in context.

I am simply responding to their opinion. The point of a forum no? I don't care about difference in opinion but I get annoyed when people start throwing around personal insults in an indirect way and thinking I am going to ignore it.

So now we are comparing apple prices? How much does a 14" MBP base model cost on Apple website compared to an M2 Air??

You know M2 MBP 14/16 will be released soon so yeah it doesn't exist right now but a lot of people will wait for a new model no matter a savings I cost because they want a better chip and whatever new features may exist even if it is just a new chip with better single core and multi core and better gpu that is a significant upgrade.

i'm pretty sure i'm winning here, the overall feedback has made you change the thread title, hop back and forth between your points, completely inconsistent argument across the board.

i actually drive a suv, so not a truck owner. my car history has been leases so any maintenance is passed on to the dealership.

thank you i do enjoy what i have, same could be said for you since you're pushing your opinions on others with this thread and any other subsequent threads.

and btw, i don't have to push anything, take a look at the mbp forum, everyone there raving about the 1599 price of the 14 base.

Winning? You won bro.

SUV is not a truck? LOL

I am not pushing my opinion except I am responding to those who try to argue their opinion as being superior.

I have no care what you think. You can call me any names and keep going on and on. I think the thread reveals my point and yours.

I will let others decide whose opinion they value most and if it is yours then great if not then great. It doesn't change anything. Lol

apple is the only place that i can find similar BTO for the m1 mba. let me know if you find a retailer that charge less than apple for the same build.

yeah, it will, but will it cost 1599? doubt it.

Not exactly the same but new and much cheaper than $1599. Lol

I am sure if I spent enough time I could find one for less than $1599 with same specs and refurbished all over the place.

nope i wouldn't call it a truck, you might, but thats on you.

you push your opinion and invite debate by opening this thread, take responsibility bud.

yeah i hope so too, so others can too see what a terrific deal the base 14 is going for right now.

It's just a laptop. Some people live bitterly in absurd comparisons. It's easy, the MBA is new, the MBP is 2021 and fat design and heavy. No more arguments friends. Let everyone enjoy their MBP / MBA and live happily. There is a lot of bitter. I am in love with my MBA M2 with worse screen, ports and power than the 2021 MBP. I'm going to kill myself.😆
😆

I take responsibility for going on way too long but this was fun.

Have a great day and I truly hope that you don't take anything I said personally. I really don't care about who is right. But debating is fun and I learn in the process.

Yeah I hope others get the best device for their use case for sure!!

There is a lot wrong with this analogy. For one it assumes you paid more for a car which has features you don't want when the reality is you got those features for the same price. There's really no cost of ownership difference between the two cars. The only thing valid is that you get better fuel mileage and your car is easier to park.

I didn’t actually specify the cars but let’s say a Subcompact to the cars I mentioned. Subcompact will do everything the more expensive car will do but initial price is lower. Gas mileage is lower and maintenance is lower which equals a lower cost of ownership compared to a more expensive car with a bunch of added features. That is the jist of the comparison. Lol

The best you might be able to say is the subcompact gets better fuel economy than a larger car and that the subcompact is smaller than a larger car. As for price that's irrelevant as they're both the same cost.

The M1 MBP is almost a pound heavier not .7 ounces? 2.7lbs vs 3.5lbs?

I have had both and I never said the screens were the same and although there are some things better on the MBP there are some things better on the MBA. Staring at screens side by side is one thing but using them for a long period of time and seeing what you prefer is different.

An older air is not a good value but it is cheaper. We are not even talking used. I could get an M2 used for much less than retail.

You are correct the differences are battery life with an edge to the air. Chip is better in the air if you prefer single core and chip is better in the base pro by a small degree is you prefer multi core. form factor is certainly a personal preference which I think the air would have the advantage, ports are an advantage if you use them and want them for sure on the pro, speakers are better on the pro for bass and dynamic range but not loudness and clarity.

Value is what you perceive as giving you the most for your money and what is important to you in your use case so for YOU the MBP has the most value and for me the M2 MBA has the most value because I prefer things maybe you don't. It is not cost alone that determines value.
Did you buy your MBA M2 before the MBP 14" $1599 sale?
