What is the reasoning for putting a worse ssd in that the previous model?

Good question.

It's a public service move on Apple's part, giving the perpetually unhappy and sad in the world an opportunity to have a teeny blip of power that's otherwise lacking in their lives, providing purpose, to go non-linear with a faux meltdown on a public forum, letting everyone know how aggrieved they are.

It's the new normal on the internet.

As a longtime Apple fan, I just have one thing to say. This new Apple laptop looks like a great machine— but it does not look like a “MacBook Air” — it looks like a MacBook. It’s just not slim enough. IMHO, This is a huge missed opportunity to rebrand the line in a way that made much more sense, with a MacBook standard laptop (this M2 release) and a new, “ultra-slim” MacBook Air based on the chassis of my beloved MacBook 12. I may even buy one of these machines as a more capable travel laptop in between my MacBook 12 and 16” but I won’t give up the MB 12” until they make a replacement as thin or as light.

Is this on other sites, but on Apple Canada, there is no option for a 256GB version. It begins at 512GB.

I noticed this when the comparison between the M1 and M2 show up... there is nowhere to click for a 256GB option.

From the Apple Canada store right now, I can select 256

I almost wonder if That’s their long-term plan.
Notice this new computer does not say “MacBook Air” anywhere on it.
It’s not under the screen, it’s not above the keyboard, it’s not on the bottom

No you! You scream as you get another HR violation. Calling her a mindless shill is also just, you know, silly. She’s way more accomplished in her field then you were probably anyone else is in on this board, which probably just makes you even more angry for no reason.

plenty of other reviewers to watch if you don’t like how she does things.
Ha, you went and got yourself suspended as you throw around claims of HR violations, well done.

That’s an interesting observation— great catch! I wonder and I hope so, because I’d buy a new ultra light in a heartbeat.

This new M2 can't be taken to Starbucks if there are no real status labels on it outside the Apple sticker. What a waste. I am returning mine tomorrow. :D lol. Lots of people will be lost without their Mac at the coffee shop.

I dream for a 12" Silicon.

I’m looking forward to a 15” MacBook Air with M3 Pro, 64GB RAM, and a 4TB SSD. That’s what I want, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the M3 Pro is efficient enough to run in a smaller enclosure. At least have it as an option.

What exactly is a professional review and who determines who are professional reviewers? Is there a reviewer collage people go to so they can become pros? Or you can get by with just a PhD in BS and your pockets lined with cash from the product maker?
By definition, a professional reviewer reviews for a living. That doesn’t necessarily make him/her a good one. But it does give you a hell of a lot more chance to evaluate which ones tend to represent how you think about stuff, vs what Randum_Dood_84 is spewing out.

You just made a very poor review of this article. I’m sure some of the youtube links at the bottom of the article are shill-types, I’m not going to watch them all to find out. But the professional, objective reviews that represent good and bad things about the product are AT THE TOP OF THE ARTICLE. No need to “wait for real customers” to start their Knee-jerk BS. “Real customers” tend to tell you that something is either “best thing ever” or “useless piece of junk”. Usually depending on whether they actually own the product.

What the heck is a professional review? Is it one of those ones where they dare not mention the bad aspects in case they don't get given early access to free review models next time, unlike reviewers such as The Everyday Dad who puts his hand in his own pocket to buy the gear? If so I'm watching an amateur any day.
Did you just give the same reply from two different accounts??

Professional reviews are in the top of the article. Otherwise, see the post above.

Believing that someone who bought the product is more objective is downright laughable.

This is an iPad Pro in a laptop form factor. That’s the whole point.

If throttling matters to you, the Pro exists.
Yeah but iPad Pro has better display with touchscreen, better cameras/flashlight and closely resembles our iPhones, but no notch.

That’s just overall a better proposition for casual use. I’d expect something more from a laptop even if it’s just an “entry level Mac”

I’d definitely lower those expectations by a lot.
The current 16 inch MacBook Pro maxes out at 64 GB of ram, highly doubt they would bring that to the air.
4TB maybe, but even that I have my doubts since all of the current non-pro computers max out at 2 TB.
I would expect if there is a 15 inch MacBook Air for it to max out at an M3 with 24-32gb of ram and 2tb of storage

There’s a notch on the iPad Pro, it just goes alllll the way around!

They probably figured a bezel was a better choice than a notch because you need to grab the iPad at random edges.

The iPad Pro is significantly thicker than the lid of a MacBook, it is a big reason it doesn't need a notch.

No FaceID yet? I have a 2 year old phone, 2 year old Asus laptop and 2 year old Dell laptop (none of which are top of the range) yet they all have facial recognition.
The facial recognition systems in the Asus and Dell don't meet Apple's standards for security.

Not as laughable as the notion that someone's review is less valid just because they aren't a paid journalist. By the way has anyone told you that you are just downright rude?
