The specs for this is similar of the MacBook Pro, I really think this MacBook Air is going to be the way of the future.
I wouldn't know — I don't own an M1It hasn’t bee on the M1 Air so why would it be a problem now?
oh su much yes, ya.I wouldn't know — I don't own an M1But I take it as a "no problem" type of comment, ja?
I wish the Macbook pro 14.3 was released on a thinner thickness than Air!!!!I wish the Macbook Air was released on a 15" screen size.
Ok, good to know! I'm pretty set on the new Air, now just trying to figure out if I'll want to use 2 displays at any point..oh su much yes, ya.
0.61” vs 0.44”The iJustine video has a comparison near the beginning. It's actually not that much thinner.
Sure. Anyone who doesn’t take a big steaming dump on the Mac is obviously a shill.Nice red herring. I don't need to try the new Air to know that people like iJustine, Ritchie, Dalrymple, Gruber et al are simply shilling for the house.
Their track record speaks for itself.
I would just provide a link for comparisons. Here you have a M2 MBA vs 13" M2 MBP vs 14" M1 Pro MBP0.61” vs 0.44”
the MBP is 38% thicker.
The MBA is 72% thinner.
That is noticeable.
Yeah, the size and thickness difference especially noticeable if your bag is full of other things as well.0.61” vs 0.44”
The MBA is 72% the thickness of the MBP.
That is noticeable.
The 13” MBP is their 2nd best selling Mac. It obviously has a market. You may not be in that market and neither am I but Apple knows that there is a part of their customer base that wants that model. Perhaps its the familiar shape, perhaps its the touchbar. One likely market is corporate purchasers who have the 13” MBP on their approved purchase lists.Better question is, why did Apple even release the 13” MBP? Early reviews (actual, independent reviews, not people chosen by Apple marketing) show that it doesn’t even maintain performance under load, and thermally throttles in spite of the fan.
Apple has a bad habit of releasing products that shouldn’t exist, will be discontinued very shortly, or are still being sold well past their lifetime. See 13” MBP, 2020 Intel MacBook Air (7 months before M1 version and in the same year), and of course Apple Watch 3.
totally. no way these people got machines ahead of time without being provided talking points and scripts. I'll wait for real-world reviews from reputable critics vs online "influencers"So 87% of those links aren’t reviews. Let’s call them what they are: shills.
I honestly think the MBA is going to replace the 13" MBP as the second best selling Mac now that the 14" MBP exists and the Air isn't crippled by Intel chips. The 13” MBP is their 2nd best selling Mac. I suspect that in the next year, we’ll see a new model come out that replaces this in their price tiers but until then, the minor M2 update to the MBP was all that Apple was willing to change about that laptop.
WEIGHT!True, but I think 90% of those users should buy the 14 or 16" anyway. Especially with 16gb ram and 512gb+ storage the price difference isn't that huge. Seems like a very small niche, people who have quite a heavy workload that can't be done on the Air, but still can't afford the 14".

I watched her video. She seems to be a very affable lady and I like her enthusiasm.I really enjoy watching iJustine. Her real world editing provides excellent examples of what the machine can do. She mentioned how the machine got warmer during the process, but still performed well with editing video most MacBook Air users will never attempt.
Or, why buy the M2 Air over the M1 Air? Those benchmarks and the reviews only paint a partial picture. The M2 Air (based on M2 MBP tests) will be significantly slower than the M1 Air in other real world tests because of the SSD. Just having multiple apps open slows things down considerably on the base M2 machines, not to mention the overheating/throttling issues that have been discovered. With those benchmarks, why would anyone buy the 13" MacBook Pro?
If a person gets up in arms over meaningless bench test instead of trying the Mac over 14 days with typical usage, then that is an issue with the person and not Apple, in my opinion.Or, why buy the M2 Air over the M1 Air? As people (not Apple shills) get their hands on the M2 Air and start running more tests, I think a lot of people will have buyer’s remorse.
Reminds one to not be first in line to buy whats new usually. Wait a couple of weeks for the real extended time usages reviews that give honest perspectives using various software compared to hastily prepared first looks. If a person gets up in arms over meaningless bench test instead of trying the Mac over 14 days with typical usage, then that is an issue with the person and not Apple, in my opinion.
