My config (24gig/1tb/midnight) is still showing in the store app with a shipping estimate exactly the same as my order from 8:01et yesterday

Not exactly flying off any shelves yet
Or supply is plentiful. It’s back to school shopping season. Apple wants to ship as many as possible in July and August.

New orders for the base model Midnight are shipping August 9. Bump up to 16GB and it ships August 2. This likely means the base model is selling well. Air buyers are less likely to upgrade, particularly to 24GB.

None of the 24 configs were available before end of July anyway, even at 8am. Maybe delayed components or something, and most of the pre orderers wanted to see an earlier delivery date and didn’t need the 24 so avoided the upgrade even if they’d have sprung for it on an earlier ship date.

Old Mac sysadmin here... as in 1996-2005, when I lost my way. Super hyped to have ordered an M2 Air!

Does anybody know if the finish on the Midnight is soft-touch or more of an anodized metallic?

If indeed the MBA M2 base model has the single 256gb chip, I'm not convinced it will really matter in real life normal use (Browsing, email, texting, Excel, Twitter etc). I look at it as more like difference between the max speed of a Ferrari being used on regular roads. Does it matter if it gan go 150mph or 180 mph when the speed limit is 55mph?
I agree. The only real problem is found in MR land where it is more mental than actuality.

Can somebody please explain the education "gift card" to me? They charge us $150 then they give us a gift card for $150 that we can only use at the Apple store. What's the point of this? Seems like the only one that really wins here is Apple.
Mine will be put towards an Apple Watch upgrade this fall (coming from a Series 3); it's a store credit good for further Apple product purchases is all.

Anyone else from Canada order a midnight blue model? I ordered right at launch (base model midnight with the 35W charger) and the delivery date was Aug 3-10 (which has now modified to Aug 4-11). It seems like the change to the 35W adapter meant a longer delivery time but it surprised me slightly that July 15 never seemed like a viable option? Just curious to know any other Canadian's thoughts :)

In US on Fri adding dual charger option to base midnight model added 2 weeks to delivery time from Jul 15 to Aug 2

I decided I don't really need the dual charger with my M2 16 / 1TB order and canceled it just now and reordered with the 67w charger. I also added the $79 / yr coverage since this is a new design model. Said coverage will be cheaper per year (after the first) than out of pocket potential. My ship time changed from 8/8-8-15 to 8/2 - 8/9.

For those who hate touch-bar; they will jump on M2 MBA as better alternative. Moreover, let's say from general population, out of 1000 Macbook users; how many % you think need high performance computing laptop ? For years, people were buying 13.3" MBP because there was no alternative or choice at size/price but with M2 MBA; it has changed completely.
So, soon as M2 MBA becomes available on display at Apple, BestBuy, Costco, etc to check it out; that shipping dates will keep slipping more. Hope, Apple's supply chain is equipped with the high demand.

That other guy doesn't know what he's talking about. 4GB even on a lite Chromebook isn't sufficient for more complex web sites. Recommend 8GB on Chromebook or Linux. On MacOS that uses more memory you need >8GB and the next step up is 16GB since there's no 12GB option.

Microsoft just released a new Surface model with 4Gb of RAM and 128Gb SSD.
