That is strange. One I ordered at 5AM PT is arriving after one I can order now. I think this is because local stores will have it in stock and that stock can be used for deliveries.

This discussion has completely lost the plot if we're now pointing delivery has moved forward....a day. Mine was also 1-8 from the start.

Guys, these times will improve. Apple has covered their backs based on China, covid, lockdowns, delays and other issues - it's all to be expected with BTO. I'm expecting mine before end of July.

Im still using an early 2008 white macbook. Will this be an upgrade?

I think i might get one. Just waiting to see some review videos and wait for a sale.

Im wondering how it is opening it up since its so lightweight and the body style / lip is square,

Did the 16/512 for speed/longevity. Did not appreciate where that took the price! I am pretending I lost $400 down a drain and paid the base price.
I feel like it’s hard to justify any Air M2 outside of the base model (maybe upgraded to 16GB memory) because the 14” Pro, which is a far superior machine in nearly every way, is regularly on sale for $1799. I do hope you enjoy your new computer though!

Forgot to order during the day - then ordered a midnight - 16 GB - 2 TB, which will arrive beginning of August.

Was hesitating about the 16 vs 24 GB, but didn’t find any use case my wife would have that would profit from more RAM.

1 pound less. And in the 1TB/16GB its very much superior the new Macbook Air, costing 150 bucks less. I dont care half an inch less screen.

Same order here. Desiring to arrive. Realy seems it´s a very portable mac.

Interestingly, the 8/512 configuration seems to have the longest lead time at the moment....Perhaps a lot of people wanting entry-level systems but worried that the Air has the same 256GB issue as the MacBook Pro?
If indeed the MBA M2 base model has the single 256gb chip, I'm not convinced it will really matter in real life normal use (Browsing, email, texting, Excel, Twitter etc). I look at it as more like difference between the max speed of a Ferrari being used on regular roads. Does it matter if it gan go 150mph or 180 mph when the speed limit is 55mph?

Can somebody please explain the education "gift card" to me? They charge us $150 then they give us a gift card for $150 that we can only use at the Apple store. What's the point of this? Seems like the only one that really wins here is Apple.

I finally got round to playing with the pricing of the MBA vs 14" MBP (using education discount, just because I can).

M2 MBA with 16gb ram and 512gb storage - $2269 vs 14" MBP = $2769. $500 difference (in Sing dollars). See whether you prefer portability or sustained performance / ports, but I agree, the difference doesn't seem very much on paper.

Maybe the form factor will end up being sexier when I get to interact with it in real life. I have played with the MBP a while, and it's chonky, and I already lug a fair amount of stuff to and from work.

I could be wrong but that way if you return the MBA for a refund you get to keep the gift card but you will be charged $150 for it.

Same boat as you. Sad they didn’t go smaller. It is what it is I guess. Torn between silver and midnight. Hard to tell without seeing.
Yeah I think this is going to be it as far as small sizes go. I have the 2017 i7 with 16gb, but its just not that zippy. But dang the thing is so handy and the size is perfect.

Well I’m glad for the option because frankly having to lug around the 14” MBP across the world is not on my to do list. Next time you find yourself wondering why someone would go with the MBA over the MBP, P*O*R*T*A*B*I*L*I*T*Y. Every ounce, every inch, matters when you job or use case means moving around every day.

Not in any world can you consider it 'lugging around' the 14" that only weighs 3.5 lbs and is essentially the same size as the M2 Air...

120Hz display, SD card slot, active cooling, and FAR superior performance for only 0.8lbs more in weight begs to differ.
