The most important question for me is - how many monitors you want to operate and how important is the monitors max frequency ( i.e. up to 144 Hz ) for your eyes.
And whether proper scaled resolutions are available for ultra wide screens

Imo the M2 Macbook Air is a better deal all around as Magsafe alone is a big advantage as it at least frees up the precious thunderbolt port.

While the M1 MBP has its place (no 14" MBP yet) being the highest end Apple Silicon model when it was launched, the M2 MBP comes in as a weird position. I guess now it is turned into a decoy product, to upsell people to the 14" MBP.

I am on the fence as well. I like the updated hardware and price point of the MacBook Air M2 with upgraded hard drive and RAM. The MacBook Pro 14" is tempting especially coming from an entry level Intel based MacBook Pro 13". However if the benchmarks for the MacBook Air M2 come back with impressive numbers I will opt for it instead of the 14" MacBook Pro this time around.

I know it's not gonna happen, but if they release 13" (ie., the tapered design) with the mini-led screen, It'd be neat.

I'm in this dilemma where the I don't want to get 14" and 16" as design are too bulky, yet I can't get the Air since it will be too slow without fan.

The 13" M2 MBP is a 2022 chip inside a 2016 computer.

Meanwhile, the base 14" M1 MBP is often available for $400 off list price, making the 13" MBP even harder to justify, except for folks who really take advantage of the Touch Bar.

It's also a bit hard to justify buying an M2 MBA if you can get the 14" M1 MBP for $400 off. But unlike the 13" M2 MBP, the M2 MBA has a modern design, magsafe, narrow bezels, and other attributes that make it super tempting, especially for people who find the 14" MBP a bit too chunky and heavy.

14” and 16” MacBook Pro are solid machines around along with the M2 MacBook Air.

13” M2 MacBook Pro just doesn’t seem too appealing to me. Apple could have at least offered the 13” 💻 model in mid-night blue option.

The 13" needs to GO! Period.

The MBA needs a new supreme use case - which I don't see it happening. No need to bring that to 15" unless a MacBook consumer model gets a rebirth.

13" needs to be ONLY a base M chip forever to be a consumer macbook.
MBA can have base M series chip with an Mx-Pro chip for high end 15" models,

not having a cheaper consumer lineup macbook to align with the Mac Mini I think is really hurting Apple, but what do I know.

Kindly bring back the 17".
why? For an extra inch is gonna make you feel good?

The screen size and real-estate of the older 17" is more than covered with the current 16" MBP and in a MUCH smaller and MUCH more efficiently cooled case.

forget the 17" its no good. maybe an 18" but again as we already seen with the 17" not a lot of buyers made it worthwhile to manufacture.

The M2 chip is a LEMON. LOL. Don't buy. Go M1 MAX

quoting a 6 month old video?

I think it should be mentioned that there seems to be a quite noticeable (in certain scenarios) performance difference between the 14" M2 Max and 16" M2 Max favoring the 16", which is thought to because of the higher amount of heat dissipation capabilities of the larger MacBook Pro.

The M2 Max users a little bit more power than the M1 Max when at full load which likely generates more heat compared to the M1 Max MacBoo Pro's.

See test here:

Compared to the 14", the 13" Macbook Pro is not a "Pro" machine. Debate me.
No one will debate this. Existence of fans does not a pro machine make.

Then again, remember the aluminum MacBook? The version that existed shortly before it was replaced by the basically same aluminum renamed MacBook Pro? Apple is basically doing the same thing here.

Had the Air but I'm selling it. I love it, and the form factor can't be beat — it's probably the greatest thin laptop ever made, but I needed more power and higher external display resolution.
But the Air can drive a 6K external display. Just for info.

I wonder when they will stop selling this 13" M2 MBP model? WWDC 2023?

Old 720P FaceTime camera and same stereo speakers from older M1 model, this is an another sneaky marketing example as was the M2 iPad Pro which was criticized.

When they run out of stock on the machine chassis.

They probably didn't sell super well overall and they have a lot of inventory with the chassis and are just updating the internals until it's gone. They may be producing a small quantity but that's only if the model is generating more sales than we think.

I'd guess they'll kill it off once they release the 15" MacBook Air.

Awful article that suffers from Applespeak. Instead of using Apple marketing words like "Liquid Retina with ProMotion" how about say "high density 241ppi display with 120hz refresh rate" along with an assessment of which is objectively better? And, to end it by saying the outdated 13" body with useless Touch Bar is the better option without calling Apple out on the fact that they are simply milking the old assembly lines, and that the MB Air is actually better at this point for most casual users moving forward, is simply disingenuous.

I think they updated the old article with references to the new M2 Pro/Max MacBook Pro laptops
It seems strange. It’s not just this one. I saw it on three others too. Most bizarre one was the HomePod Mini vs the HomePod.

Yet the 13” Eh-buh-BEH-beh-Eh
Ma-buh-BAH-bah-ma MacBook-peh, that’s all folks!

We’ll all be doing the Eddie Cue in pink party dance. ;)

The 13" MacBook Pro, if it's going to exist, should 100% just be in the new 14" body. All the specs and internals can stay identical, just simply be in the new body minus all the ports on the right side. I think people would jump all over it if they did that. Having the new design would make it appear WAY more attractive, and probably even save Apple some money in the process by losing the Touch Bar.

Not a bad idea honestly. Replace it with a Liquid Retina Display and there’s enough differentiation, if they keep the base MacBook Pro—which may not be necessary with a MacBook and 13”/15” MacBook Air.
