Just buy displaylink usb i have one it work like charm for me it not support because apple silicon has low memory bandwidth (limitations of SOC) to run more than 1 external display (it just 100gbps bump from m1 compare to m1pro that has double bandwidth also m1max) that bump allow you to add more 8gb of ram but not enough for another monitor

Not at all. Premium Car companies do it for years. Base Mercedes or Audi model will have less features and much worse interior than highest Peugeot or Renault model but you still paying more only for Mercedes or Audi logo.

No, I'm talking about the MacBook Pro that was introduced today.
They didn't introduced new MacBook Pro. They just upgraded old MacBook Pro with new chip. The MacBook you are talking about was introduced in 2016. Hah. How old are you?

How is M series Windows emulation progressing? My SO won't use an external display, and it looks like the M2 machines are nearly identical trading weight for est 2 hr battery but suffering a touch bar. I gave her my 2019 MBP because she has to run Windows software. I bet she would enjoy something that doesn't sound like a helicarrier.
I use Windows 11 ARM via Parallels for light tasks on a 16GB M1Pro. Specifically MS Project (and the other MS Office apps in the Windows environment.). Project isn't native on ARM, but it works pretty well on some complex Gantt charts (1,000+lines).

Basically it's fine for MS Office stuff. Anything else might be pushing it unless there's an ARM version of the app.

That's what I was afraid of.

It's still a new MacBook Pro regardless how old the design is. And the new MacBook Pro, a supposedly professional-grade laptop, only supports one external display.

Perhaps I painted that in too negative a light. I mean it works pretty well but it's not the same as running bootcamp.

There's a bunch of videos where they use an M1 for gaming and works. I wouldn't have thought it would even run!

Hmmm. I will check this out. It's a medical database. I am more worried about stability.

It basically shares chip with MacBook Air what do you expect? They did it with basic, old-designed iPad upgrading it with newest chip, they did it with iPhone SE. So I think it is funny that you don't get a reason why Apple is still selling this old MacBook Pro. Also they made M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra version for a reason.

I expect a professional-grade laptop to support two external displays. And the MacBook Pro doesn't do that, which is crap.

The problem is Windows ARM, not the emulation. If the software was not written for Windows 11 ARM, then it's going to be hit or miss. If it runs on a Surface Pro X (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/d/s...ft_web_collection&activetab=pivot:overviewtab) it will be fine.

I have some old Windows software that just won't run on Windows ARM. Some of it will (e.g. Intel versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro) some will not (e.g. Lotus Notes circa 2004 vintage.)

With all due respect nobody cares what do you expect or what are your financial expectations. Apple introduced New 14" and 16" MacBook Pro and M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips with all listed features they provide. If you want more external displays then you have spend some more money on the newest MacBook Pro. If you don't have money or don't want to do it then it is your problem at the end. MacBook Air is fanless, thin laptop for non-pro users so I understand why it has external display limitations. They upgraded old MacBook Pro for someone who needs laptop with fans and is on a budget. They did that but they didn't have to, so I think it is ok. They leave you with a choice so I don't see anything bad about it. Again, want more external displays buy 14" MacBook Pro. Cheers.

No idea why Apple is introducing the iPhone webcam kit. Not a big fan of it. Would have been easier if they just put better cameras inside the 🖥 💻
It does introduce some potentially interesting use cases. As one quick thought: your web cam no longer needs to be locked to a top-center-of-your-laptop-screen position. It could, theoretically, be placed anywhere near your laptop on [say] a tripod facing any direction. Again, opens up some interesting use cases. 😉

It's not called "MacBook Air with a Fan", it's called the "MacBook Pro".

Not that it'd actually be that much of an improvement, a $1200 laptop should be able to do multiple external monitors regardless of the name.

But it doesn't. Deal with it. MacBook you need is 14 inch or 16 inch MacBook Pro from 2021.

It's because of the single TB controller.
A single TB is fully capable of dual 4K displays.

Speaking of which, M2 is still stuck with TB3/USB4 instead of the TB4 seen on M1 Pro/Max/Ultra Macs.

I was thinking I would get the New M2 Air, but between the price hikes, lack of TB4, and the single external display I'm suddenly in no hurry. Guess I'll wait for the reviews.

Not a surprise. What funny is that people want Air to be Pro Mac. People, there is a reason Apple sells Basic/Air Macs and Pro Macs. If you want a Pro features u have to buy 14"/16" MacBook Pro (2021). Don't forget that Air is fanless laptop.

You realize the `MacBook Pro` actually has the word `Pro` in it, so it should probably have Pro features. Not that 2 displays is really a Pro feature anyway, cheap Windows laptops can handle 2 displays. The new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13" handle 1 6K display, which is about 20M pixels. 2 4K displays would only be about 16M pixels. 2 4K displays should be easy for them.
