The original Mac mini had an external power brick G4 and the early Intel version.I wonder if it will have an external power supply like the iMac.

Advertising and marketing that would lead to additional sales. What real advantage is there to it being smaller? You still need monitor, keyboard etc.
What they should do is make an iMac with a slot you can snap a Mac Nano into. Voila!Maybe they could build it inside a monitor! Imagine that!!!!!
I think the number of USB-C/Thunderbolt ports will be the same. Same goes for Ethernet and HDMI.I would rather keep the same size, and get four USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, an Ethernet, and HDMI. It really doesn't take much space up to begin with.
I doubt they would drop it, considering the Apple TV has one (at least on the higher-tier model). Please do not drop the Ethernet port....
Why does anyone need a USB-A port at this point? I have a couple USB-A things (which will eventually get phased out) that I plug into my M1 iMac, and I just use a couple adapters. They sit on the end of the cable and I never even have to see them.Ok for smaller as long as it keeps good connectivity (USB-A and USB-C, HDMI (at least 2x 4k support), sd-card, built-in small speaker).
Which means my tiny computer needs a hub anyway, regardless of whether it's USB-C or (unfortunately) still USB-A stuff. Disappointing.I think the number of USB-C/Thunderbolt ports will be the same. Same goes for Ethernet and HDMI.
But I suspect Apple is cutting the two USB-A ports.
Would be sick if they retain all the ports despite making it as small as an Apple TV box.
Doesn't the fan in the M2 Pro Mac Mini ramp up during heavy tasks? I'd rather have Apple putting in a larger heatsink and fan, to ensure a more or less noiseless operation. I dunno about this one. These M-chips tend to get more and more power hungry, from the original version (M1). This could end up being a very hot and noisy Mac Mini version. The current Mac mini has a lot of wasted space already, if you look at the insides it is very empty.
Agreed, sort of. My current PC is and AIO, so I'd need a new display like a basic 24 inch HD.Add a display, mouse, keyboard and trackpad and the Mini is almost the cost of MacBook Air.
Well yes, I agree, as I hate the fan that spins up on my current iMac when I push it and I push it a lot.I hope fanless, this is evolution for me.
Just make it into a mouse.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Don't put that out there in the universeProbably with a power brick twice the size of the new Mac Mini...
