Mac App Store Intermittently Down for Some Users

Well, for me at any rate. It was working an hour or so ago and now nothing.

I feel like a midnight launch would be great for them that way the downloads are more spread out. With a pre-announced launch they know we'll all be sitting here with our trigger fingers ready just waiting to crash their servers. is not that silly!

The absolute earliest that Lion will be available is 4PM PDT on Wednesday.

iTunes Connect will be down between 9AM and 4PM PDT on Wednesday, during which time users in certain countries (outside of the U.S.) may not be able to download apps.

Hmm. Very strange. I get 15 minutes flawless and then half an hour of unpredictability, and that process has repeated itself for the last couple of hours.

Anyway, nice to see I am not the only person from New Zealand. Local Time = 7:20 pm - Wed 13th

Store is down for me on planet Jupiter, my friend on Mars says Lion is already available for him!

The app store within iTunes was having lots of trouble yesterday. Long, long waits to load the pages and I'd sometimes get an update available and then it couldn't load the update. Then next time around the update was gone. After waiting a bit and several more tries, I got some updates last night.

For some time, we’ve heard that Mac OS X 10.7 would arrive Thursday, now comes a report the UK may be the first to hear the ‘Lion’ roar. The Cupertino, Calif. company will release its new version of the Mac operating system on the UK Mac App Store at 1 am, according to a report citing “a close contact at Apple.”

“We’ve just received information from a close contact at Apple that Lion will be arriving at about 1am tonight (UK time),” according to the “Speak Apple” blog. The site contends today’s announcement of iTunes Connect maintenance is due to last-minute preparations before Lion’s release.

Apple has already released a number of beta versions of Lion and said the new OS styled after its iOS mobile software would be released this month.

1 a.m. UK time = 5 p.m. PT (Apple's time zone).

That's one hour after maintenance on the app stores is stated to be finished, right? (4 p.m., if I recall).

I'm guessing that means it may be released at 5 p.m. PT and whatever time that corresponds to everywhere else. If there's any truth to this, that is.
