Because he's probably had multiple versions of a beta OS on the machine.

From one major release to another I wouldn't bother, but with a dozen or more builds of a beta OS applied to the machine a reinstallation is a prudent thing to do.

No, if you install the official OS X release over the existing system you're good to go.
I went from 10.0 b all the way up to 10.5.x without any problems.!!!

I like the Windows 8-like flat look but I'm going to give Yosemite some time. Things have been a little rough at Apple lately. I'm tired of being and experimental early adopter.

I have never been one to notice bugs, however I am having crazy graphical problems with finder were I can't click things unless I expand the window more. I can't believe in a RC I am still seeing blatant problems like that.

Try trashing com.apple.Finder.plist in ~/Library/Preferences , then logout and in again or if you are familiar with terminal kill the Finder.

The Public Beta 6 still has the WIFI bug! I am dropped from the connection sometimes! Please fix!

After my Final Cut Pro started working again, I stopped updating after Beta 3. I'm just gonna wait until the official OSX_Y releases.

Well I guess OS X mail will be released broken again.

And to clarify, to all those who say it works...
hook up to an exchange server and watch it suck in front of your eyes, along with IMAP with multiple folders.

At least Airmail works pretty damn good though.

Oh, and wifi sucks too.

Did you install dozens of beta builds of each of those releases along the way?

I'm glad you had no issues, and I may not either. But since a reinstall is not a major inconvenience for me I would rather know that all the beta bits have been removed and I have a fresh clean system to start with.

I would say that if a user is having weird issues with the beta, a reinstall would not be a bad idea once Yosemite is released. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Still no photo editing in Mail or attachment transfers as per the WWDC keynote. I think they still have some work to do.

Are you sure? I know I have been prompted before to send a large mail attachment as a transfer and I have seen the photo editing. Now, this may have been a few betas ago and I am not in front of my mac at the moment to verify, but I will check when I get home.

Not a bad plan. I can say that I have GM 3 on three different machines (2013 iMac, 2013 rMBP, 2013 MBA) and it's working great so I will update it when it's released.

My rMBP is my work machine, so I've been running Yosemite off of a separate partition. Once it goes gold I will update the primary Mavericks partition and wipe the Yosemite Beta partition away. The other two have been getting the updates on their primary partitions.

Hmm, my main email is an exchange server and I also use an IMAP account for personal uses with lots of folders (I am obsessed with filing everything away). I have no issues, its weird how some people can have issues and others don't. I wonder why that happens.

Yup, installed plenty of beta's, there where some bugs in them, but so do 10.x.x versions, all/most bugs will get wiped away by the newer 10.x.x versions.
There are no bits left over from beta's, all/most buggy system files will get updated!

I'm jealous. Airmail crashes on me regularly, and mail stops receiving mail after a bit. It's enough where my next laptop will probably be a Windows machine (or a macbook air running Windows... I can't escape...).

I don't subject myself to the insanity of betas any more so I haven't been paying all that much attention, but I am still stupid enough to usually upgrade to release versions on day 0.

And since that day is coming I thought I'd look at some screen shots:

Dear God, that looks AWFUL.

Flatter more modern? It likes like frackin Windows 3.1

Oh Lord I'm gonna upgrade anyway because I was born stupid like that but SO UGLY!!!

Why does everyone try to keep bringing back the 80s?

GUIs, Clothes, Cars, Hair

Everything SO ugly!

I guess the people running things these days were in High School in the 80s and are Nostalgic?

Yuck.

Report it to Apple directly, the way bugs are suppose to be reported. Don't assume someone else will do so. The more reports they get about, the larger of an issue they will see it is and the quicker the will address it. Way too many (most) developers are too lazy to report anything unless it causes issues for their own app.

If only Microsoft could surprise us with its Yosemite-optimized new version of Office.

Won't happen, I know. But still...

or even better, Office supporting handoff/continuity so you use it with Word/Excel/Powerpoint on your iPad...

I did (WIFI bug) several times, still not fixed, it's been there since the first beta.

The dev recently posted on his blog that's he's working on it.

Working so hard that it's taken over a year. This isn't some big name video game for XBOX with tens of thousands of man hours involved. This is something even a part-time developer could deliver in a month or two at most.

For some reason I forgot that Yosemite also has sidebar widgets. I'm so buying the hell out of that calculator app.

I want an app that just keeps a repository of a bunch of different hex color codes with the swatch next to them. And just an empty text box that can temporarily hold text.
