Mac Book Pro applecare: where to buy?

Ok ok

Just to tell the end of the story and give you a good name.

I bought the applecare out of ebay. The seller was fasttracksss. You can look at its characteristics on ebay directly. He has not many applecare per week, but if you wait a bit you can find 2-3 in a month from this seller. The really unique thing I found about this seller is that you are bidding on a new and sealed box that he will send by mail. This way you will have a proof of purchase for any purpose and 0 risk of having your warranty cancelled.

Hope I have been useful!

PS I registered the warranty and the process went smoothly

Just for contrast, this is how it went down with my seller when I broached the subject:

Well I still wouldn't buy from anyone who refuses to send the sealed box.
It seems obvious to me now that their flakey excuses about paperwork/hassle etc. are just a smokescreen for the fact that they are cashing in the Applecare after they sell it. The facts are they know the number they sold you so they can claim a refund!

AppleCare fraud with MemoryMate

Okay, here it goes. I bought two of these from MemoryMate. They only send emails with the registration code, not the serial number. I've been back and forth with Apple on this. Just got off the phone again. The problem with these codes and seller-

1) The registration number is flagged. You need a serial number (which is on the box) or a receipt from an Apple Authorized dealer/reseller. MemoryMate does not provide these.
2) MemoryMate, although originally admitting the code was no good, refuses all communication. Meanwhile, your chance of registering lapses.
3) You need either the AppleCare box or legit receipt, PERIOD. Otherwise, Apple will reject.
4) Your warranty can be pulled at any time. i.e. Apple sees a pattern of suspicious registrations, asks for the documentation MONTHS later, it is too late to file a PayPal dispute or change feedback in email.

That's probably why the feedback ratings are so good. The codes haven't had a chance to bounce! This can happen at ANY time.

Moral- buy factory sealed box ONLY! MemoryMate is running a big time scam!

Have you reported this to Ebay?

I have similar problems. However Ebay seems to be very reluctant to kick their powersellers. And Apple does not seem to care...

I am currently in a refund dispute waiting for PayPal to make a ruling. Apple said to not even bother and go straight to my credit card company. I figure I'll wait for an answer and then if necessary, do a chargeback. Remember, these codes can bounce at ANY time. AND even if you call AppleCare and they say it is registered, it is still flagged in another department that will eventually get back to you. Don't just accept the pat answer from Apple's website or AppleCare agents!

I just purchased my MBP Applecare from the same seller, hopefully the registration process will go as smooth as yours.
