great news but dont forget its still a rumor though the updates for the high end imacs seem better (better gfx, up to 8gb ram)
BUT i would say apple would have to give it a slightly faster CPU!
I mean like c'mon u cant keep the same speed when so many programs/games these days need as much CPU power as possible (along side with ram)

So my bet is there will be a cpu upgrade also. Its just kept secret still.

That Engadget box doesn't look big enough for a 72" iMac. wtf is Apple thinking??? Still stuck on 24"? Come on. I'd pay $999 for a 72" iMac with 3 HDMI ports, BR, 1TB drive and 4 ghz cpu and 8 gigs of memory with 8 cores.

I'm switching if that doesn't happen.

There is likely to be a CPU update, just not for the high-end model.

there should be an option for SSDs! SSDs and quad-core processors would rip through anything! sadly, i haven't heard of any SSDs in 3.5" form factor.... [sigh]

They sound more like Microsoft every day! :)

Except those are not the official designations but the layman ones. Officially Apple has never called their products anything. They simply use model numbers and the only other designation that I've head is "entry level model".

No Quad Core? What? I think the MacBook Pro should be quad core but no quad core on even the top end iMac model? that is crazy!

Does anyone care? Why should we have believed him?

Well there are a lot of people on the forums who think they are experts when it comes to Apple products, and talk down to 'newbies' even though they are basing their own opinions on pure speculation
If monthy is right, then he will be vindicated for bringing us early information in the face of doubters. Maybe these people will have a bit more restraint in future
Im sure im not the only one with this opinion

All he had was a picture, one that could have been easily photoshopped. Its right to be on the side of caution.

That being said, no one should have been a jerk to him either.

Prediction

Sales of iMac Models with no Blu-ray capability and glossy screens?

Abysmal.

The Mac mini will do better. Barely.

:apple:

Mac Pro updates

From Engadget:

"The Mac Pro will come in eight-core configurations from 3.0GHz to 3.6GHz and 16-core configurations in 3.6GHz and 4.0GHz flavors, and it sounds like it's going to be even funkier on the video tip -- our tipster says it has two regular DVI ports and a mini DisplayPort. Sure, okay. It's also apparently a bit lighter than the current model, at 35 pounds instead of 42."

I love everybody's confidence about whats coming out and when. I love it. I'll love it even more when everyone cries that it doesn't come out tomorrow. :p
