No quad-core Penryn iMac??? WTF? They've been out for 2 years now, and the newer models are EASILY within the power and heat budget of an iMac.

This will be hilarious... The Mac Pro will have 2x Quad-core "Nehalem" Xeons which already blow away the existing quad-core "Penryn" Xeons and the iMac will be stuck with a freaking Core 2 Duo!

they are out now... check the site. Their high end one is the same one my boyfriend got last cycle, exactly. I dont see what else has changed except for lower end models.

no core i7?

no core i7 for imac? what kind of update is this???

i am so dissappointed.

Who do you take us for? Dell Rumors.com? You might have well as posted a rick roll video :p

It's a crying shame these systems are no longer what I need. I love the design of the alu iMac. Unless they announce the graphics card will be a 4870x2 on the iMac I'll be skipping

Comparing the highest end iMac to the lowest end Mac Pro. You sure can't find any Mac Pro's in the $1500-$1600 range where there used to be some Power Mac models.

You are right the mac pro is more expensive that the power macs were, however iMacs and minis are also more expensive.
The desktop range of macs have gone up in general.

Erm?

*checks site*

No...?

I hear what you are saying, but currys is a pretty big store over here, who aren't particularly enamoured with apple. I don't think that they will be reading rumour sites and adding placeholders because of it.

I very much doubt Currys would be adding placeholders to the Comet web site, rumours or not. ;)

Actually you're the one who needs to wake up because if you were awake you'd of known that the iMac has used notebook components for a long time. Do you see Quad-Cores in notebooks yet (I'm not talking about the notebooks that get a 5 minute battery life)?

My brother has a quad core Alienware laptop. It lasts more than 5minutes on battery trust me.
