The Mac Mini should have at least gotten more memory/larger hard drives or have the price reduced. They are way over priced.

The Mini page still advertises iLife '08. Same with the Mini store page, although there's a little picture of an iLife '09 disc. Maybe when they update these pages, we'll get an update? I'm still hoping.

EXACTLY!

I saw people buying them over the holidays! It is a great machine!

I don't think we'll see an update until Apple has used up ALL the parts for the current one in the factory and every single last unit on the shelves is sold...

Seriously disappointed there was no mini announcement today! :(

But all indications of a new replacement for the mini are so strong and pervasive, that I'm sure we'll be seeing one soon. Sure hope so... I want one! And the current version isn't going to cut it.

Look, matey, I know a dead Mac when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now!

No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'! Remarkable model, the MacMini, idn'it, ay? Beautiful chassis!

The chassis don't enter into it. It's stone dead. Apple kilt it!

Nononono, no, no! 'E's resting!

May be its not dead, may be....

We are in for something major. If its taking them this long to get a new mini out, may be they are working hard on it.

I also, believe we wont see the name change to nano, and it wont remain "mini" but rather a whole new name. I envision a smaller, thinner design. A bit wider, ( -------------- ) but still the same in lengh

Is there a new Intel processor that is just coming on line around now that is causing Apple to delay release of the mini so they can include the new processor in it? And possibly same story with the new iMacs, which would presumably contain the newest mobile processors as well?

I think its more of a design problem.

Dont think they want to use glass in it. but you'll never know

If the sources who provided such specific detail about the 17" MBP also had the info about the Mac mini, it probably exists. I think the date of MWSF was off.

I could easily see Apple having an event in this quarter focusing on their whole desktop line. Mac Pro, iMac, Mac mini. This could also be the perfect time to discuss the Home Server.

I hope so. It would be nice to see the mini get it's day of updating soon.

It would be really much more press worthy for Apple to have a special event like it did for the new MacBooks. Bring in Core i7 across the board and focus on how amazing the whole new lineup is.

That is just damn funny.

At this point I AM pining for the Fjords, er MacMini announcement.

I think I'll go for a walk!

--- I wonder if .chris and others above are right, that the form factor is going to change just a bit, and the new MacMini will become some sort of 25th Anniversary Mac, announced on Jan 24th. Although the iMac is closer to the form factor of the 20th Anniversary Mac, maybe it'll get some sort of special bonus for the big silver anniversary, too.

Almost two years of lies, myths and rumors about the Mini from this web site and not a single one has come true. Not a single one of you knows one damn thing about what Apples next move will be.

Maybe April, maybe the 24th, maybe this maybe that I have never seen a web site so full of BS.

I must admit the lies are pretty funny and its amusing to watch the reaction and the fever pitch that follows every rumor posted here.

I could post just about anything here and say an Apple source told me so then sit back and watch the feedING frenzy begin. :D

Oh by the way I have a source at Apple that says the new Mini will be released this coming Monday LOL :D

Specs hardly change and MASSIVE price drop to flood market and convert all disbelievers.

Low end core 2 chips are a step away from celeron models.

The Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh was released on January 7, 1997, as a celebration of 20 years of Apple Computer, Inc. This date was not exactly 20 years of Apple, as Apple was established on April 1, 1976 and incorporated January 3, 1977. Still, close enough.

Apple celebrated it's 30th anniversary in January 2007, when it dropped "Computer" from the company name.

While this January 24, 2009, does mark the exact 25 year mark of the release of the original Macintosh, I wonder if a new computer released on or around this date would actually be marketed as the "Twenty-fifth Anniversary Macintosh," as it would create some confusion in comparison to the release of the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh, 12 years ago.

Never thought of that....

But I still believe that they may be working on a design thats taking so long, You know, it will be a desktop using the same "green" materials as the other macs. Its practically the only apple product that still uses yesterdays material.
