Remember, Shenzen, China, is 15 hours ahead of us (Eastern Time). The shipment left China at 7:09 PM on 1/19/2005 LOCAL TIME. The packages arrived in Anchorage and left there at 2:09 PM on 1/9/2005 LOCAL TIME, which is 6:09 PM Eastern Time.

Mine is on the same flight as all the others. I hope they're enjoying the ride!

BTW, mine still says it's to be delivered by 10:30 am on Friday, Jan 21st! :D

I kinda wonder if there's a difference in delivery time based on if it's being delivered to a business or residence. Apple asks when you place the order, so I wonder if the people with projected delivery dates of Monday are getting it shipped to a house and those with Friday to a business. Wouldn't surprise me...

I don't know, but my mini shipped early this morning. So far, FedEx has not updated its status page. I purchased directly from Apple, specifically because of the "promise" that it would be delivered by the 22nd. Apparently, its not looking that way...

I placed my order for a 1.42Ghz mini with AirPort & Bluetooth within 20 minutes after the keynote... as soon as the Apple Store came online. I called and confirmed with Apple after I placed my order, and was assured that the mini would be delivered before or on the 22nd---so will see.

nope...It's all location within the United States...mine's going to a buisiness and is due on the 24th, but I also live on the East Coast.

All day my tracking # (iLife) has been denied by FedEx too.
"Not found
No scan record for the following shipments has been received by our system yet. Please try again later or contact Customer Service."

Some FedEx glitch I think--they can't ALL be forgetting to scan.

(Or maybe they're all sitting on a dock somewhere having never been picked up... No! I won't think it!)

Patience...Sometimes it takes a while for the items to get into the system. ;)

I can be patient.

EDIT: It's still "Not Found."

EDIT: Still Not Found!!

EDIT: STILL ... NOT ... FOUND !!!

Well...Ill be waiting at my local CompUsa store at 7 am on Saturday!! Hoping that they will have it. I have called a couple of Apple stores outside of town to ask if they know if the apple stores inside CompUsa will also have them on Saturday. All that I called said IDK, except for one. I called one a couple of cities away from me in Plano, TX...and the lady got really snooty with me saying "How in the heck would I know...we arent CompUsa.." She was real mean!! But just to let all yall know....all Apple stores will have the Mac Minis on Saturday!!

Sideways mini

When someone gets their mini (or if you know beforehand), does the speed of the optical drive slow down if you set it on its side?

Thanks!

And don't feel bad -- mine shipped, but the tracking number doesn't work. Fedex's site has said since yesterday early evening

" No scan record for the following shipments has been received by our system yet. Please try again later or contact Customer Service."

Hopefully they just forgot to scan it.

I hope you're right about the missed scan. They're shipping thousands of these things. I ordered a BTO 1.42 minutes after the keynote. I got the shipment notification this morning, but the tracking number still isn't showing up in FedEx tracking. I'm not too concerned about Friday, Saturday, Monday, whatever -- I've got plenty to keep me busy this weekend. The apparent limbo state of my mini does make me scratch my head a little.

Multilingual support

Voyons donc, comme si je n'avais jamais utilisé Mac OS X de ma vie! ;oP

The thing is, I like having my stuff (box, etc.) in french and honestly don't care about the delay that much. It shows that french is my first language, which can only help in maintaining french support in the future...

On ne pouvait pas le savoir en te lisant. Yes, I see your point, but couldn't be sure you knew about it or not. I do a lot of Mac tech support and most new users, and some old ones too, don't know the first thing about multilingual support.

I did write to the canadian iTMS about the non-existent French music support though. Je fais ma part :).

What do you Mean? Do you think that they will get there by friday??

Yeah, unless for some silly reason they're gonna be sitting in a warehouse until next week. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

I won't sit here and say I know it all. :p
But I learn alot from forums like this and what little I can give back in return, I do my best to. I am also very excited about switching to a Mac (mini specifically).
Anyway, see my username and where CUSA corporate is.

Well thanks for all the info...and I would really appreciate it if you could email me at mooger@sbcglobal.net when you find out when exactly the mac minis will be at compusa!! Thanks once again!!

I suspect that the .Mac update scheduled for Saturday is related to iLife '05? Here's hoping the previous rumor of 1 GB .mac space updates (vs. 250 MB now) are also true and will show up on Sunday morning.

Ya, I really hope Apple upgrades the .Mac accounts to 1GB . As it stands now, .Mac is a major ripoff. You can get 250MB with hotmail or 1GB with gmail ... FREE! Why pay $100 bucks for the other less used features?

If 1GB does materialize on .Mac, I'll sign up and cancel my website and email hosting service and just move it to .Mac .

As for the Mac Mini. I think it's a waste of money at this point.

I have an Airport Express, OSX Tiger and iLife05 on my shopping list right now. I might as well wait until Tiger ships. At that point, I'll get the Mac Mini, which I can use as my WiFi transmitter for my PowerBook and it comes with Tiger and iLife05 for free.

I calculcated things, and I figured that I'll be saving CAD$420 bucks by buying the mini instead of all the seperate products. I'll pay just another CAD$300 or so for a Mac Mini.

But I think I'll be patient and wait til the summer where I'm sure Steve will announce a progression of the Mac Mini to perhaps include better media center capabilities built in such as S-Video and a remote controler.

I got it all strategized :D

slow bus speed

except for the high-def graphics & surround sound...

cool little 'puter, though. i'm just not sure the little 32MB Radeon could pump out frame rates like an Xbox. i could be wrong. i own an Xbox & a dual G4 and i've been bummed w/ the graphics on Worlds of Warcraft lately. i bought a new 128MB video card only to find that it didn't really help. it's still laggy & jittery even w/ the graphics level set low to moderate. so i have my doubts that a single G4 and a 32MB card could do any better.
G4 bus speed is horrendously slow... :(

do you pay *any* attention

S-video and composite video output to connect directly to a TV or projector (requires Apple DVI to Video Adapter, sold separately)

The MiniMac already supports S-Video....

But you'll still need to buy 10.4 and iLife for your other computer.... It would be piracy to try to install the MiniMac's kit on your other machines!

So I ordered a BTO 1.42Ghz Mac mini (with 512MB RAM and BT) on 1/14...and my ship date is listed as "On or before 2/15"... ACK! Anyone with a similar configuration care to confirm that this is accurate? Just seems a bit long for only a couple days after it was announced....

Mine's 2/14 and it has the 512MB Airport, Superdrive 80GBHD I'm optomistic thou I ordered a pair of Klipsch speakers from apple ship was On or Before 1/31 and I go tthem today.

ha ha! They're lucky if I buy one OS and install it on all my machines. Most people will just grab it off a P2P network for free.

Let's put it this way, my PB is my first Mac. Before that I was on Win machines for 15 years. I never bought a copy of Windows or anything from Microsoft for that matter.
When I moved to Apple, I vowed to get ligitimate software. There's no way I'll buy an OS for each of my systems... I mean.. who does that??

People who aren't pirates, people who have a conscience...need I continue the list? Just because people do it doesn't make it right.
