with Firewire 800

My wishlist:
- quad core intel mobile cpu
- 3,5" hdd
- full size DVI beside mini-DP
- fw 800

I agree. It makes no sense to include another port when the Mini-Display Port/NVIDIA combo allows for Dual Link DVI.

I agree too, it's a complete FAIL to imagine TWO "small size-need-an-adapter-ports" (mini-dp + mini-DVI)....make no sense at all....the only reason to put another port could be to allow out of the box "adapter-free" connectivity, i.e. a full size DVI....but I'm afraid there will only be a mini-DP. Let's hope for a free adapter included...(DVI or VGA bto customizable)

I find a lot of that article hard to believe. Two mini display ports makes as much sense as apple not designing the mac mini to fit in with the family. I doubt that, they made the MB look like a MBP which looks like an iMac which has features identical to the ACD and so on

No netbook or Mac Pro.

So, what is the opinion... Dropping the Mac Pro line all together or not updating as frequent.

So, say someone that does a ton of audio production and some video crunching/editing/finishing... What is a good Mac to buy???

Please read the other threads regarding the Mac Pro. It has been said already. There is no new Mac Pro at this time because there are no new chips from Intel.

What ever the current configuration is for the new Mini I am willing to bet the farm that it starts at $699 or higher. How did I arrive at that price? easy! the top of the line iPod Touch is $400 + tax and its not even a computer so....

If you have set aside $500 for your new Mini dream on!

I agree. I hope and expect it'll have the same specs as the MacBooks and Apple isn't going to give that to us for $599. Watch for $699 and $899 instead.

Well all I can say is, if the new mini has a DVI port or some connector to use it with my 20" ACD, then I might pick one up.

Its also gotta have some extra, a bit of a kick to it or something.

I'm using my MBP right now and i'm trying to decide if I even need a mini since I can use my ACD with the MBP (dual monitors FTW !)

Looks like I just want to spend more money at the Apple Store lol.

I used to use my portable on the desktop with an external monitor too. Finally, I got a mini to use there so it would free up my portable for use on the couch. It was great to finally not have to disconnect every time I wanted to do that. I'm spoiled, I know.

Yea I know exactly what u mean. The DVI connector can be a pain to remove and connect back and forth. Maybe thats what I'm thinking about. Only had the montior hooked up a few hrs but have had to disconnect it 2x lol.

If the mini looks good i'll spoil myself.

Ultimate Mini Pro

dual 320 hard drives
Mac Air external cd/dvd drive
30" Apple display
This would fill the gap between the iMac and the MacPro.

I'm sitting here with a dp 2.5 PoweMac and don't want the expense of a MacPro but still want to use my 30" display.

How many of you think that the Mac Mini is going to be updated? (In other words, do any of you think that it won't be updated?)

Card

What type of video card you think the new mini will have?
I'm thinking the 9400 in the new Mb's.

I'm thinking it'll have a baseline 9400, but I hope that we have the option to get a better card on the higher end model. Since the Mini is a desktop computer, I don't think it's a problem to have a 9600 in there or something comparable.
