Mac Mini to Launch at Macworld San Francisco?

...and almost definitely no firewire
...and possibly only display port video out
I've been considering buying a Mac Mini for a LONG time, but if either of the above are true then Apple will continue to not see more of my money. In fact, given the way Apple has been headed I wouldn't be surprised if in addition to those 2 major flaws if they also raised the price at the same time!

This has a chance of having some truth to it. Sony Optiarc are now starting to make 12.7mm slim slot loading SATA drives. One interesting note about these is that they correct the major setback of slot loading drives in that they are compatible with 80mm discs. In one rumor a while back, Apple was looking at mini-optical disc support a while back through an 80mm to 120mm adapter.
You must be new here - when it comes to big Apple events and announcements the backlash from this site is always trememndous no matter what is or is not announced.

Are there just a ton of Macworlds such that every time the main event in January is referenced it needs to be referenced as "MacWorld San Francisco" or MWSF so as not to confuse it with some other macworld? It seems to me that when you say just "Macworld", everyone knows your talking about the January event. Does saying "San Francisco" add something interesting, is it like an exciting movie subtitle?

The may have gotten the materials wrong, but they did finally got the NVIDIA chipsets correct. Say goodbye to Intel graphics.

I hope so. Why they continue to supply iPod docks in white when there is no white iPod anymore is beyond me not to mention the mouse, keyboard, remote, etc. I'd like to see the keyboard get the same black backlit keys as the laptops.

I wonder if this new Mac mini and the rumored home media server are actually one and the same?
Precision aluminium body, zero plastic be a good start
You need some plastic for wireless signals to get through.
I'd say no FireWire and Mini-DisplayPort out are both guarantees, though I hope they include the adaptors (since the use of a monitor is required, unlike with the MacBooks), though I'm not holding my breath. I find the idea of allowing dual internal drives to be very unlikely, but I also read the article not as suggesting Apple would offer that option, but simply that you could do so yourself since they're going to be using SATA optical drives (which is perfectly logical).
I also think it's likely to be all aluminum, no plastic, but there's a chance they'll decide it's worth the design tradeoff for whatever reason (it's likely to be a lot cheaper if the plastic is included in the design than with a solid aluminum case).

I'll take a case redesign with height enough to handle 2 3.5in SATA 1.5TB drives and buy two of them to add onto the network.
3.5" drives would be even better, especially for any kind of servers.
Here's hoping!
Maybe the new Mini will take cues from Time Capsule.
