On 1.25PB seems OK

On my 1.25GHz 15"PB all seems to be OK with it installed.

Yesterday I wiped my hard drive and reainstalled everything. Would have been nice to go right to 10.3.7 instead of to 10.3.6 and now the update. Here's to hoping all is well.

UPDATE SMUPDATE

If 80mhz wont do it, you dont need it!!!!!

You young whippersnappers. The Mac Classic had a 8Mhz CPU. 80Mhz wasn't reached until the first PowerMacs. ;)

I am assuming that includes CandyBar.

Guess I should uninstall that...

do i really have to? cos i really like my icon setting right now, i spend a lot of time to make it look this nice... :(

I am getting a Retail Radeon 9800(Mac Edition) for my Sawtooth and I was wondering if should wait to apply this update? I heard that the software update now checks your hardware configuration and gives you only what you can use.(I have a Rage Pro right now)

All well here as well so far.

I'm having some problems with Adium. The contact window won't show up.
Are you connected? If your buddy list is empty or all of your buddies are offline and you told Adium to hide offline buddies (depending on the style for the buddy list that you selected) the buddy list won't appear at all.

Printing PDFs

Still can't print the last dozen .pdfs I've downloaded from various sources to my HP 7960. When is Apple going to finally make printing robust in OS X? I'm getting a bit fed up.

Have you tried dragging the files to the printer icon in your Dock? I had some trouble for a while printing PDFs created by a Citrix app. I know it sucks, but for me it did the trick.

I restarted and that fixed it.

Any idea if the DNS problems that PLAGUED 10.3.5-6 are fixed yet? This is by far the biggest issue that needed to be fixed, affecting at least half of all Mac users I know, and as of yet has still not been acknowledged by Apple.

edit: there it is

Resolves an issue in which Safari, Mail, and other networking applications that use DNS lookups could experience intermittent connectivity issues with Security Update 2004-09-30 and Mac OS X 10.3.5 or later installed.

My inside sources say that Apple will release Tiger after 10.3.9.1.1

:)

MINE say 10.3.9.2.1.2.7b, the one that turns off the G5's ability to play Brittney Spears and N' Sync CD's.

Seriously, I live on the edge. I just started updating 14 Xserves to 10.3.7 sight unseen. Call me an idiot, or call me a fool, but I have a good feeling about this update. If I crash and burn, anybody need a new tech director?

I hit a snag

After updating I no longer have a desktop. I can open up winders and my desktop fold seems to be intact with all the objects in it but I have no icons and the little triangle below the finder isn't there. I'm gonna restart and post if there is any change. I'm running a 1.5ghz PB with a 15" screen.

Just did the update on my G5 which I just wiped clean and started over with yesterday. Of course the wiping clean made everything way better and because this is all I have been doing for the last 24 hours I have a lot of time on just checking stability and "snappiness" of everything. So far (though tough to tell conclusively) I am liking 10.3.7 better. UT2003 seems more fluid. Window openening seems smoother and quicker. iDVD seems to open quicker and show the menu animation a bit more fluidly. Nothing seems broken. (Not everything tested of course.) So far so good though. :)

I don't know about that checking. In the past there have been different size updates depending on the last update you had but it seems to me that they have maybe a few different update packages but not so specific as to check all the hardware configs etc. If you aren't having any problems now though I would wait until you install the new card. A few days shouldn't kill you.

After restarting the dock shows the finder is launched but still no desktop icons. I'm just waiting to hear from anyone else. This is the latest PowerBook with the 9700 Radeon and 128mb of VRAM.

If Apple doesn't release a 10.3.9 before going to 10.4 I am going to feel horribly incomplete.

I formally request a little wink icon. ;-)

DVD Player

Fixed my issues with 10.3.6. DVD Player would cause my CRT display to flicker if it was running in a window or full-screen on my powerbooks display. Also the info wouldn't go away regardless of what the preferences were set to. The display doesn't flicker anymore, still had to delete the DVD Player prefs plist file to get the info window to go away. Did anyone else have these issues? I can't find a reference to them anywhere.

Also it supposedly fixed a bug where unplugging devices/even leaving firewire devices plugged in while the powerbook slept would cause it to not wake up properly. I know unplugging my external monitor while the book was sleeping has caused it to freak out forever, that would be a nice fix. Also I have an isight on order, so hopefully that's a problem I just won't have to deal with.

just curious: someone count the days between today and the next WoW update.

btw was apple specific as to which ati/nvidia/opengl fixes were made? url?

does this fix the battery life issue on some laptops? i'm down to 1.5 hours on a full charge after upgrading to 10.3.6. If this doesn't fix it i may try to revert to 10.3.5.

I'm not sure that's a common issue...

Well, I haven't heard about it. I have a PB and so does my friend; we're both running 10.3.6 without issues (although we're plugged in a lot).
