hrmph, maybe someone beyond 'an intern that quit' has looked at faxing cause its the buggiest bit of software ever to come out of cupertino.

Cool! I just finally upgraded to Tiger over the weekend.

Slightly off topic - When I upgraded, I did an archive & install, which left a "Previous System 1" folder on my hard drive. I've gone though all my programs and everything seems fine, so do I need to keep this folder for any reason? Or is it okay to delete it now?

Thanks

Woo, a new formatting tool bar!

I find 10.4.2 pretty stable, worlds apart from the initial release.

Hope 10.4.3 brings some new functionality ( probably minimal )...

I think this is a great thing and am always happy to have my computer a bit snappier, and I love Apple to death, and I hope no one can ever trace this question back to me, but...how are we so happy and yet mocking of SP2? It seems the same to me, only this is a DL and I doubt will be available on CD for the dial up users.

This just seems like a lot of updates at once. Which is good, since they shouldn't break each other. But... (and yes, I'm voting this story positive)

M-dogg,

As long as you have all of the files that you need from out of that directory, then you are good, and you're clear to remove it.

As long as it plays dvds without scrambled image and sound i'm all for it. bring it on!

Dude! You've got a stuffed DVD drive!

That's definitely a problem with the drive, I'd get it checked as soon as possible.

I don't know if its the OS or itunes but when i plug my ipod in and it launches itunes, itunes freezes......it did that for 4.9/5 and 6

Back in the day of Jaguar and Panther, it seemed Apple released an update every month! They're sure taking their time with Tiger. 500 updates..?.. that's huge! Hmm... looks like were gonna have this cat for a while yet.
- Den

It was about every two months with Panther, Jaguar and Puma.

With Tiger coming out at the end of April, 10.4.1 by mid-may, 10.4.2 mid-July and 10.4.3 end of October (possibly), the average would be again two months but then 10.4.1 should be seen rather as an stop-gap release and therefore the real - intended - frequency of updates might be closer to three months.

bring it on, a major update for anything is long overdue!

and please do it before i have to go back to using dial up again!

I would like to see iDisk be as transparent as clicking on an external drive, rather than the dog-slow, walking through treacle experience it is currently.

I'd also like to see the calculator have results edited rather than just a string of numbers e.g. 1,234,567.00 rather than 1234567.00 They do it for the calculator widget why not the main one?

These scream Macintosh.

Just realized that Tiger is out for half a year now and Veritas has not managed yet to make their Net-Backup client compatible with it (it took at least half year with 10.3 and 10.2 as well but that is no excuse).

It probably does not help that Veritas is owned by that very Mac-supportive company Symantec.

Pleeease can people either put a link or brief summary of the problem, rather than just saying, "I hope it fixes...."

e.g.
I really hope that they fix all of the issues in os x server, with mysql and php.

What problems, I have just set up two Xserves with MySQL and PHP and both are running fine. What don't I know about? What is going to go wrong? Am I going to be affected?

Details...

"Few details of the specific improvements are available."

Yet we are being told of 550 fixes? Someone is lying.

I hope 100 is the combo update

I must have amazing patience, or laziness, or something. I have WANTED to get Tiger on my main machine so I can use it full time... but my HD is so full I have managed to put it off this long. Now I'll be STARTING with 10.4.3. Waiting has its privileges...

I can't wait for this update, it's certainly big. I haven't had many issues with 10.4.2 so I hope it only repairs things and doesn't create any new problems.

I'm very excited about this update. Hopefully the timing will work out for my switch to Tiger. That way I can get it all set up at once.
