It's nice to see

Its nice to see everyone is as anxious as I am. For those of you who supposedly already received your version of tiger could you tell me if the portrait monitor rotation made it into the final build.

grrr

estimated ship date: April 28 2005
free shipping: standard 2 day delivery
equals = April 30 or 31 2005
I at-least want tiger on time or I wouldn't have bothered pre ordering on April 13....

anyhow I hope "estimated ship date" becomes on or before April 27

I think their thing says on or before April 28, 2005.

And, if you don't have it on April 29th at 6pm, just go down to the Apple Store or CompUSA; buy it, and then refuse shipment of the delivery.

your right

yes you're right it does say before... I missed that, maybe I just need to simmer down and have a little faith.

oh but as with buying at another store. I got the educational pricing for 2 copies, (69.00 each) so I'll just need to be patient for a day or two until it comes.

I like many others am just really excited for tiger, but also excited cuz I've got a radeon 9800 pro coming & 1GB more ram (maxed at 1.5 in my quicksilver 2002) :) (may not be big news to folks out there but it's exciting for me!!...) so I got a-lot to be excited about for this week

My order for Panther said the same thing and it shipped on a Tue and I got it on the Thur before the Fri release date. But that was 2 years ago. Im hoping it will be the same for this release as mine still says processing order. When they say on or before the 28th, they are just covering their butts.

On a side note I ordered my copy of Tiger 5 min after it ws released, so if anybodys will ship early it would be someone like myself who ordered that early. ;)

I know how you feel.. I'm really excited for Tiger as well.. I preordered on the 18th. My est. ship is also "on or about the 28th"... -_-

I don't have RAM coming though. lol Nor a new gfx card as my iBook G3/600 Mhz can't be upgraded is that sense. ^^

Whoa sweet! That's a really neat trick/tip. I just tried it now! ^_^ How'd you learn about that?

Shift + Apple + 4 and drag the cursor from the upper left corner of the area you want to copy and it will select an area instead of the entire screen.
:)

There is only 30 days in April. Apple has warehouses that it uses in different parts of the country. So they are pre-positioning stock now. It should allow for delivery of Tiger on the 29th as promised.

Does anyone who if you can buy Tiger with the Education discount at a local Apple Stores. I have one close by and rather get it when it comes out and not worry about ordering online.

Well about a month and a half age I went to Apple store here in Soho, Mahattan and when I asked if they gone give edu discounts on Tiger a salesdude replied that thay don't give discounts on software. :((
However, I did buy an iPod photo there with discount, so its wierd that give edu discount on hardware but not software. Go figure.

BTW I ordered my Tiger from Apple Store edu section and I am still going to that event at Apple stores :)

Yeah, they don't give the software discounts at the apple store. Only hardware. You have to order online to get the edu software discounts.

took a picture of the screen?

hold shift+apple+4 & tap the spacebar on the window you want to copy. It'll save it as a PDF on your desktop.
Don't you know? Tiger saves screenshots as .png files now. They are no longer .pdfs.

"We don't give education discounts for software in the store, you have to order it online."

That's the standard Apple line.

And I can understand it for other software, like iWork, iLife, etc... because when you order it with an edu discount you actually get an "Education Version", which is exactly the same as the retail, just with different naming.

But there is no "Education Version" of an operating system, so I don't see why Apple wouldn't make an exception for that.

Boo.

Would you like some cheese with that?

Whine, whine, whine. This argument is completely invalid such that there is zilch for shipping, and you actually stand the chance of getting the product early, like I did, if you order online. If you want something to complain about, complain that viruses are not well enough supported on the Mac.

If you're actually a student, your campus bookstore (if it carries Apple products) will sell you the software with the edu discount. So skip the Apple store and just go there!

MacMall Shipping?

Am I the only one or are there others that think Apple should ship before MacMall??

I'm a newbie.Cut me some slack :)

<edit> oops!! I've been upgraded from newbie to member!!</edit>

I don't know about y'all, but my sister bought the whole Powerbook + iPod deal a few months back, WITH the educational discount, at a local Apple store. All she did is look up her College online at the store, showed her ID and that was it.

Fishes,
narco.

Pretty good idea, except that the middle school where my wife works, and the grade school where my sister works don't seem to have campus book stores... nor do any of the high schools where my friends teach... Plenty of people with legitimate educational discounts don't have any recourse but to order it directly from Apple. (Which is no big deal.. I will still go to the shindig to try my luck at the door prizes... and undoubtedly run across something else to buy. Never fails.)

Does anyone aout there know if there is a difference between "Tiger retail" and "Tiger Education".

If you go the the Apple store online and go to the education store page and click on OS X Tiger toward the bottom of the page and then do the same on the regular store page you will find different wording in describing OS X Tiger.
