Search versiontracker.com for "Front Row" and some replacements will pop up.

They had the perfect way to organize TV shows in Tiger, but then in Leopard they changed it slightly. Instead of listing each tv show, then each season in the next menu level, Leopard initially just put all episodes of a particular series into a big list after you chose the series. Not the greatest system, but still much better than what they have now. In the root menu for tv shows, they now make a seperate entry for each season for each show(some of mine have up to 10 seasons) and whats worse is that they don't TELL you which season it is in the menu, you pretty much have to guess.

This is an inexplicably dumb move from Apple, who had a really sharp UI for this prodcut to start with then just seems tried to intentionally destroy it. These really makes me mad because Front Row was one of the big reasons I upgraded from a powerbook. The ability to basically have a remote that allowed my mac to act as a TV for all my purchased iTunes shows and dvds(ripped with handbrake) was great. But Apple has gone and made the UI almost unusable. I would go back to Tiger, but I have an SR macbook, so that isn't possible.

However, the odds of that being fixed in 10.5.2 are pretty slim. Anyone know of a good front row replacement that is compatible with the apple remote?

Barring any new issues, my money is still on 1/29 (tues). Software updates mostly land on tuesday's or thursday's, rarely on wednesday's, nearly never on monday's or fridays and NEVER over a weekend.

They've either been released of Tuesdays or Fridays. Since everyone get their MacBook Air tomorrow, I'm guessing it will be tomorrow because it has the wireless optical software for the Air.

You two seem to be in disagreement. Does anyone else recall which days of the week OS updates were usually released on?

10.5.0 was released on Friday, October 26th and 10.5.1 was released on Thursday, November 15th.
Hoping 10.5.2 will be Friday, January 25th...;)

Wait, my menus are transparent now. They have been. What is gonna be in this update? An option to turn that off?

10.5.0 was not a software update. It was the retail pressing of the DVD.

Hopefully this will fix the web content filter as it says. MSN is not that evil. although it is kinda funny it picks MSN to block.

I want an iPod dock like port that does the following from a dongle:

[shopping list omitted]

I realize the device itself will be a sphere or rectangulator with the wierdest surface ever. So price it at $299 retail and impress us with the interface driver. Dock it.

Maybe what you're looking for is a PCI Express Cable Connector, since that's all you really need to do all that. The dongles will be largish, sure, but it'll be pretty future-resistant. The connector itself (for x1) is about the same size as a HD15 analog monitor connector.

Since PCIe is a serial standard, you don't have the bus length limited to a few inches any more, so you can put it on a cable without bridging. What's not to like?

Hopefully they release this thing tomorrow. I finally broke down and ordered Leopard, and my copy is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Might be nice to start fresh with 10.5.2.

It won't. been said time and time again already.

So everyone says it won't be fixed with this build, but what about a F/W fix to AEBS as others have stated may be needed to fix airdisk. Does anyone have the inside track on this. Everyone seems to hear about software fixes, but not firmware.
