The Vista website is hilarious.

Things in bold[/u] are things that would be impossible in a Microsoft OS, things that are in italics are things that have been in Mac OS for years, and things that are in underline are things that XP already have, but so poorly implemented and difficult to use, 99% of users didn't even know they existed...

In the "Features" section it has all of 12 points:

  • User Experience
  • Security
  • Search & Organisation
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Sidebar & Gadgets
  • Performance
  • Windows Backup
  • Networking
  • Windows SlideShow
  • Speech Recognition
  • Help and Feedback
  • Windows Update

It's hilarious that there isn't a single feature that's new to the Vista OS. Vista is simply a skinned Windows 2003 SE with everything more obviously pointed out so the consumers know it's there!

It's a joke!

Following that trend:

Windows SideShow has been in OS X for years? And been in XP?
Windows Update is difficult to use?
Help and Support is something impossible for Microsoft to implement?

Etc, etc, etc...

EDIT: Also, Vista is a "Mac OS X 10.5 Detail"?

I could not say it any better !!!

You guys can't be serious...

Applications that you just drag and drop to install are one thing, as they were never officially installed to begin with. The fact is that Windows Uninstaller does work, and it does remove registry entries for removed programs. I have seen a resonable package manager in every OS I have ever used. Windows, Solaris, Ubuntu, Fedora Core, AIX, all of them EXCEPT OS X. If you install a package that goes to more then one directory by default, you should be able to uninstall said package just as easily. But according to you guys I guess I am asking for too much functionallity. I appoligize for going high-tech on you. Let me just drag this conversation into the trash. :p

This is a well versed puch line for all of you who choose to defend a non-contender, and will continue to defend until your contender fades into the background of un-thought of, un-used relics of computer land!

Sorry I haven't read all of this post if it's been already covered mentioned, I just can't read through 500+ posts... but anyway, here goes:

I know that in 10.5, there is going to be support for advanced searching including boolean operations within spotlight. Are they also going to do regular expression support? That would be so wonderful...
