...except for that Ford car that no-one bought. :p

the cougar was so much better than the puma though which lots of people bought. Although you don't see them around these days. But then again they are Ford's so they probably all broke down.

Cougar or Lynx, folks. Those are the two other feline names that Apple copywrighted.

So that covers 10.6 and 10.7. Then what? What are we going to call System 11? Can't use composers again.

The Puma was the wee car based on the Fiesta (i.e. a hairdressers car) the Cougar was the big 'sporty' car based on a Mondeo (i.e. old man in boy racer denial.) You can't use the Cougar name in the UK. We associate it with overpriced and slow performance. Looked OK though...

I half thought they'd do it at 00.01 this morning. It is still only 6 am in Cupertino so perhaps at 9. The latest i would expect is 5 o clock.

5 pm cupertino time whatever timezone that is.

Don't live in a country where we have to know what timezone we are in.

Cupertino is in pacific time zone.

yeah it kinda stinks having all the different time zones and stuff.

i predict an announcement by 9 or 10 cupertino time

That is what i expect (and hope) too that way there is a decent chance i'll be either in or awake so I can read through all the Leopard features and hopefully pre-order.

If interested in the acronyms for many more auto makers see this thread. We need to come up with some for APPLE...

If Apple is serious in getting this beast out we can assume the packaging, marketing materials, and distributions channels are already moving or done with what they need to do. Seems Apple is banking on the existing addicts again to springboard the product. I wonder if they'll give a $50 refund in a month to first adopters :D

how about......Applaud Purple People Losing Ears?

i'm predicting another delay by apple, thus the announcement today. i don't think we see 10.5 until november or even december.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leopard was delalyed until right after Thanksgiving (November 22nd) to coincide with the beginning of the Holiday shopping season.

Also, November 23rd is on a Friday and they do love those Friday OS releases!

November 23 Is Black Friday - The Day Everything Is On Super Sale

But November 23 is Black Friday so no way would Apple try to compete with all those sale situations.

If you mean other software sales, maybe, but I don't think other items of retail would have much effect on the potential sale of Leopard. If anything, it could actually galvanize the "intent to spend" in those who want to get a jump on the holiday season. Besides, they're going to have to compete with others during the shopping rush eventually, so again, I don't think competition on Black Friday would factor in much.

Nonetheless, Apple may very well release Leopard later this month, as I sincerely hope. I probably won't get it until the second week of November (c'mooooooon paycheck!!), but I'd still like to see it come out soon to give some relief to my fellow fanboys!:D

24" iMac order waiting.....

I have a 24" iMac order in a shopping cart, saved, just waiting for OS X 10.5 formal announcement.

Can't wait!
