This looks like the Snow Leopard that should have been on day one. :p

No, I think you'll be able to say they are getting close to that when they have an update that doesn't affect 150 areas. Maybe 10.6.5.

These point updates rarely, if ever introduce new features. It will be minor bug fixes. And likely fixing bugs you hadn't even noticed yet.
So when do they start fixing the major bugs?

The rumors I've seen is that OpenCL gets better for the 4xxx ATI cards (no other ATI cars supported, they just aren't setup right in the internal architecture), and there were HDCP checks for watching HD video in iTunes (see, this is something Apple would do if they were going to enable BR).

So when do they stop talking about 10.6.x (though of course still releasing) and begin to hint at features of 10.7 ?

Yours was 79mb?! I think mine was a mere 10mb.. (SUCP, not combo).

I think it depended on the model - mine was the ~10MB update as well (and there was no combo update for 10.6.1 because it was only the first update :p)

Generally there'll be these sorts of updates for 10.6 until we get to 10.7 - maybe even further then that (updates for 10.4 were still coming out a full month after 10.5, for example).

Not rumors, it's a fact about the ATi part. Source.

does anyone else find it funny that snow leopard sells itself as being a leaner OS that will take up less disc space, then they have to release 1/2 gb updates to address all the stuff it broke? :p

Well, I will still wait for 10.6.3 or even 10.6.4 update, before I even think of installing Snow Leopard for the first time on my Mac mini (I received the upgrade DVD almost a month ago).

The good old Leopard works great for me.

Please fix the 4-finger swipe expose bug where if you swipe two ways without taking your hand off the touchpad it bounces instead of returning to normal windows. (I don't know how to describe it better). This happens on my MBP4,1 and a 13" MBP I installed SL on.

I think you described it pretty well :D it happens to me as well and is annoying . Glad to see it's such a large file update too. This one should hopefully fix a lot of problems people are having. All of my snow leopard problems have been very minor glitches but I know other people are having serious trouble. I can only recommend backing up your data and doing a clean install instead of upgrade. That seems to help iron out most of the bugs. Hopefully this update will sort out the rest :)

I don't find it funny if most of that involves overwriting system files and the footprint is similar.

For the people who are not having problems:

It's because you are using a specific hardware and not using a specific software. It's just luck! I don't have trackpad issues because my trackpad is not multi-touch but I am having video corruption because I have a GMA X3100.

What pisses me off; Hackintosh apart, Mac OS is suppose to run only in a small range of hardware, so in theory it's more easier to address bugs. What is happening to Apple? Maybe they are using more personnel in other areas like iPhone development? Maybe Steve Jobs wasn't there to pull ears?

Rant appart, I am happy to see all this bugs being addressed. I just hope for decent GMA X3100 drivers with 64bit support so I can have a 64bit boot in my Macbook 4,1.
Like many, I would love relative sizes in Exposé but I don't think Apple would "fix it" in 10.6.2

Because it's not delta package. Files are overwritten, not patched. Patch (difference between two files) would take only few MB, but for the sake of integrity files are overwritten and not patched. Nothing funny and nothing unusual.

And of course that's the same thing we heard about 10.5.2 and Leopard. Let's face it, if you install these releases before the .2 version you're just signing up to be an Apple beta tester.

So when do they stop talking about 10.6.x (though of course still releasing) and begin to hint at features of 10.7 ?

Yikes. It's been out a whole month and a half.

Could this also fix the CPU overload when using flash? Watching YouTube video's can heat my mac up to 80-90 degrees celsius.

Hope they fix AirPort. Ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard, when I go to my sister's house I CANNOT connect to their wireless router. When I get back home it recognizes my wireless network just fine. Both networks are N.

it's almost as if it doesn't want to connect to any wireless network unless it's my own.

Brother-in-law has the same exact problem. He can connect fine at home but when he brings it to work he can't connect there, and he had no problems prior to Snow Leopard.

Just by the sheer magnitude of the seed update file size, I would say they have ALOT of issues to fix.

I hope it fixes slow spaces animations, weird "activate spaces" animations, slow scrolling of stacks, and the bug that happens when you swipe four fingers up then down, without releasing them (it doesn't de-activate exposé as it should).

But it's nice to see that Apple is quickly reacting to bugs, I have the impression that they have the same interests as I do. With windows I never ever got updates that corrected the bugs I was experiencing, they were always just "security updates" and stuff that I didn't even know what they did.
