Disappointed! :(

Leopard was officially released here in New Zealand 28 minutes ago. But there's no stock of it in the country! How ironic...

I just went down to my local Apple dealer to buy it, and they said 'nope'.

why 6 PM?

I don't get it why they don't just have the software go on sale at 10. I understood with the iPhone because it was in short supply but I don't think Apple has to worry about running out of software. I have the day off and it would have been so easy just to drive down (100 miles) to the Apple Store and get it. Then I could install it and set up the parental controls before the kids got back from school.

I ordered online so I hope I get it tomorrow but I'll miss out on lusting after some new gear and getting a T-shirt for the wife to sleep in. At least I'll save on gas.

Happened exactly the same way to me. Unless you plan on doing a format+install it won't fix it, I tried ;)

If anyone knows a fix let me (us) know.

i did a clean install of leopard, installed iLife '08... i had noticed that iChat Theater wasn't working with iPhoto so i updated iPhoto from iPhoto... but i remember that software update WAS working earlier for me because i used it to see all the other updates i should do (but didn't). now i'm getting the same error you're getting... so i think it's on apple's side...

EDIT: oh of course... the error message states that the file can't be found on the apple server... so it's defiantly on apple's side...

Well, I know it looks like it is the server, but because most people are not complaining, I thought there could be a possibility that it is my side. Anyway, I still think it is on the Apple server side. Maybe they are really busy! :p

Just recieved my copy in Chichester after being shipped yesterday - I guess Plymouth is a long way away ;)

The packaging looks nice but is a waste of resources for something that's going to go in the bin

Now for the install... :)

I've installed mine and it seems pretty good so far. Except that they got rid of the old Spotlight results window, which is lame.

But obviously all the cool people are using Leopard already.

Anyone who doesn't have Leopard right now is a sad old lavatory bowl!!! ;)

don't throw it away... there's probably at least a dozen people on this site that would buy the packaging from you... (but not me... just offering a suggestion)

6.30pm here in Tokyo at the Ginza Apple Store

Got me a couple of t-shirts. The shirt has the 'X' logo from the software box on the front.

Off home to install my new OS...

Now that.... is a poor marketing slogan :D

Waiting for the release at 6pm when hopefully they'll start supplying Leopard with all new Macs (even if it's just a DVD). Then, probably tomorrow if they have them in stock at the Trafford Centre, I'm bagging an iMac!

im from australia and got home from uni at 12 pm to see that my big cat had arrived! upgraded in 20 mins (specs in sig). Leopard is fast! bloody fast!... spotlight gives a new meaning to to the word instant and quicklook is the best feature by far!

What is that desktop image? :)

Well, Leopard is fast and, finally, you don't have to wait ages for Dashboard to load.

Word files now have a new look - sheet of paper with 'Doc' which looks similar to Pages files (these say 'Pages' of course) and are a bit dull, as are the new folder icons.

Unread RSS feeds in Safari are no longer coloured orange but are shaded blue with a blue dot - more sophisticated.

It's going to take a while to get used the new Dock - it's not as clear as before which apps are running.

I clipped a website and put it into Dashboard - fantastic, it just works, and you can alter the appearance of the new Widget after you have made it. Sadly, the Dictionary Widget doesn't let you access Wikipedia - you have to open the Dictionary app for that, which is an oversight.

Oh, Apple says that Alex, the new male voice, is English - it's not, it's very much American.

This is really very good so far.

What's it like on an old G4 Powerbook, anyone know yet? (mine's a 1.33 with 768MB). Much slower than Tiger? Not having to wait ages for Dashboard to load would be good... it rendered it pretty much useless IMO.

I've a similar-spec G4 iBook, which I'm going to load onto later today - I'll let you know.

I can see me using Dashboard a lot more now.
