A good UI doesn't mean it has to look like a physical product, it merely has to be functional. The aesthetics of the new iCal are surprisingly bad. Here's hoping we'll be able to change it.

The rest of the UI elements look pretty nice -- the controls, etc. The graphics, not so much.

UGLY. I hope tey have an option to return it to the unified look of the rest of the OS. If not, I'm sure there will be a terminal hack to being some sense back to the UI.

This is hideous.Hopefully there are custom settings because this is definitely
a step backwards design wise to me.

Also, it is definitely. time for them to inegrate Facetime and iChat

Jesus, not keen on the cartoon look. The animations and fluidness - yes, more please. Cartoon-like interface - no thanks.

Why don't they make all the UI the SAME?! They seem to like having every app a little different. Different Toolbar/right click on dock/window's surrounds/window manipulation. Just make everything the damn same please.

Also I think the new theme that will replace aqua in Lion will be based around fabric textures and this style goes with it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Alerts for birthday entries? Is it finally being implemented?

Unifying features? Fine. Unifying the button/slides with the iPad version. Also fine. Creating that horrible leather look on OS X (vs. the iPad where it looks ok) ... NOT FINE. Fix the look Apple, this is the worst thing on a desktop computer since brushed metal. ;)

I dont like those random things they are doing. Like changing the "minimize, close window"-buttons on iTunes and App Store. Now this?

What happened to the clean and simple look?

I definitely don't like the new look! I agree with other people who said it looks corny. I mean it works on the iPad, but everything isn't an iPad!;)

totally agree! BAD colour but could deal with the layout

The new look gives the appearance of a physical desktop calendar with leather binding along the top edge, and like the iPad application shows remnants of torn-off pages for additional realism.
Oh, for the love of the children, NO! What's this need to make a computer application look like it's made of anything other than what it is? It's not made of paper and leather, why try to make it look like it is? I really don't get it...tacky, tacky, tacky.

My goodness, beveled and embossed buttons. That is not pretty. I hope they U-turn that crap.
