Screen capture in QuickTime X can only record fullscreen.
Yeah, I noticed this. It's kind of okay given that the menu item is called "SCREEN recording..." :)

However, for those of you needing to crop any screen recordings, the free MPEG Streamclip is great at this. I can't remember the url, just Google for it.

Not sure whether this was mentioned already, but it looks like Preview got some love as well.

Open a multi-page .pdf in Preview. Now click on the arrow on the first page in the sidebar. Keep watching the first page for the effect. ;)

I'm not sure what immediate use that feature has, but it looks neat, like plastic cover folding back.

I got 18.4 gigs back on my Macbook Pro! That is way more than I was expecting.

I can't wait to see what I get on my Mac Pro, but I'm still too cautious to put it on my main production machine just yet. We'll see in a month or so.

I finally got my Snow Leopard! I got 40GB, (25GB plus 15GB trash files from MobileMe), QuickTime X is awesome that was worth the $29 alone considering QT 7 Pro cost $29. It is fast well as Safari is definitely fast with load up times. Mail is way faster than before. iTunes even though it's a 32-bit app is actually a little faster but we may see a 64-bit iTunes 9 on September 9th. Well as a 64-bit Aperture 3 should be releasing soon.

Here's the trailer to download it's 720p @ 60 FPS

I find it interesting that so many photos of Macs show them sitting on nice/classier office furniture (such as yours.) That might suggest a number of things, such as getting a Mac also somehow demands it sit on furniture worthy of it. Nice setup.

64 bit Aperture has to be coming soon...although considering how rediculous the recent Final Cut and Logic updates were (they STILL ARE 32!!!), I am not expecting much.

I've just discovered I really annoying new "feature" in SL:

It seems like dragging images from Safari onto Photoshop's dock icon is now broken. This is something I used to do all the time in 10.5 and I'm going to have to add a couple of extra stages to my workflow to get round the issue, which will make it a real PITA.

I was really happy cos I just discovered that there is now sorting in column view and the Finder search can be restricted to the current folder, which were 2 unexpected biggies for me, but this Dock dragging issue has somewhat soured the milk for me.

@ LEStudios: Cmd+Shift+3 >> Grab
@ *LTD* and zedsdead: do we really need a post with 2 large images in it quoted twice directly under the post in question?

Well check these out.

What's this suppose to do? Cmd+Shift+3 >> Grab

I just noticed you had the Grab app open in your screen shots. The easier way of taking screen shots imo is just to hit Cmd+Shift+3 for a full screen grab or Cmd+Shift+4 for a marquee selection. It's just quicker and imo easier.

Sorry to hear that mate, I'm planning on heading into town (Utrecht) on Thursday to pick up a copy for myself. I hope I have better luck.

I had no luck! Was in Amsterdam this morning trying to pick up a copy, but everywhere is sold out. The guy in the store was saying how few copies they were given....they reckon they might get some more sometime next week.

just placed my snow leopard order at OWC! :) Will post how many GB's I get back once its all installed.

Out of curiosity, how long did your OWC order take?

To complete the illusion of Snow Leopard being more popular than it is. Because it takes serious time to create plastic discs in the year 2009. Manipulationists...

Aye! I'm 100% confident that at next weeks media event some muppet is gonna hoot and yell about how Snow Leopard has 'Sold Out'...when in fact they just provided too few disks...and they knew it. ;)

I finally ordered Snow Leopard yesterday from AOS and they told me that it won't be here before 17 - 18 September :( Well maybe I can somehow wait 'till that :p

Hi everyone,

I also had ordered it from Toronto, last week and it finally came almost a week later!

Anyways,

there are somethings that don't work as mentioned previously. Flip4mac is one... I also watch sporting events using Veetle and this doesn't work now, also plug- ins from some sites that I can hear their radio stations (from another country) is dead.. Does anyone else have these problem?:confused:

Besides all this, Safari seems snappier, Shutdown is quicker... in general, some good improvements.:)

What should I do to see how many gigs I get back? Should I record what i currently have and then contrast it with what I have with SL? If so, how do I do this?

No, you shouldn't. Snow Leopard doesn't calculate "Gigs" the same way Leopard does and as such, just comparing numbers displayed in the Finder doesn't mean squat.

What you want to use is the upper case H option of the df command on leopard. This will use the same calculation method as Snow Leopard :

$ df -H /
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/disk0s2 160G 92G 67G 58% /

The lower case h options shows you how leopard does it :

$ df -h /
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/disk0s2 149Gi 86Gi 63Gi 58% /

Snow Leopard frees up about 6-7 gigs. Anything above that is simply because of this conversion that's happening in the way of calculating disk space.
