One idea - a walk through of the typical things that new switchers from Windows need to know (and frequently ask here).

E.g.
Difference between Windows Explorer and Finder
The Dock
Maximising windows in OS X
Shortcuts & Aliases
etc.

Great idea of yours and great series BTW.

i have noticed that youtube is getting quite slow lately. must be getting overloaded.
Likewise.

In r.j.s's situation, it might be due to an upload to availability time delay. File is uploaded but needs to become available on the servers for viewing which may take some time for that to occur. Just guessing. But seen similar on other systems.

Not for me ... it's been doing it since yesterday.
If this happens again, maybe clear your browser cache and see if that helps.

Edit: works on my iPod.
:)

If I had a dime for every time this happened to me, where it works fine on one system but not another, over the years I would be wealthy. Must be some unruly electrons flying around the Internets™.

Working now, I guess the issue is gone.
Good to hear.

Like your video series. :)

In this case, the video was uploaded more than a week ago, and I had watched it before. I have no idea what the problem was, but it seems to be gone.

Like your video series. :)

Thanks.

Thanks

Great job, I have subscribed to your YouTube series. I'm positive it will come in handy.

How about a video on Spaces? Show how to configure Spaces. Show how to flip between spaces using the keyboard. Problem is I think Apple has a video on this.

I'll check out Apple's, see if they missed anything (I doubt they did) and see what I can do. I've been getting behind recently, but what can you expect when the NHL playoffs are on?

I finally got some time to finish another one, on Spaces.

I'm not 100% satisfied with one, I did my audio tests and everything sounded fine. Once I started recording, the fans kicked up and so I can hear this loud background noise across the whole thing.

Anyway, here you go:

Using Spaces

BTW, I need some more ideas ...

Well done on the work so far :)
Just a random thought about suggestions for new tutorials - seeing as WWDC will show off Snow Leopard, and it'll release in a few months - would be be useful to make a few screen casts around this?
e.g. best practise before installing a dot release, e.g. 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 or 10.5.x to 10.6 ?
permission repairs, tasklist of things to do, time machine back up - how to use super duper, diskwarrior / other stuff?

Simple things for mac users would be:

Disk Utility, where it is, how it works, and how to:
-Format disks
-Partition Disks
-See what file system is on a disk
-Check SMART status
-Repair Permissions
-Verify Disk
-Access Disk Utility via install DVD (although it would be difficult to get video of that)

Maybe even add in how to burn ISO disk images (ie, double click to mount in finder, insert DVD, open disk utility, click the ISO, and click "burn".

Terminal
-basic commands (like "cd" "ls" ) and explanation
-Dangers of using terminal incorrectly
-how to perform certain tasks in Terminal (ie, force empty trash)
-another disclaimer to warn people of misuse

Console
-Where is it? What is it?
-What to check for when looking for the cause of a problem (like a program crashing or acting up)

Aliases
-Explain Aliases, and what they do
-Explain how the "Applications" folder is real, but the dock is not.
-Anything removed from the dock that goes *poof* is not truly gone
-Finder sidebar has aliases aswell that can be dragged in to customize the sidebar
-Advantages of aliases (make a small folder with aliases to programs you use often, but don't want cluttering your dock, or An alias to a folder on an external HDD placed in your "Movies" folder will allow Front Row to access files on the external HDD)

I've bookmarked this thread along with some others for quick reference so I can help others out on here. I can just point them to your video tutorials

Here I walk you through the basics of Disk Utility: S.M.A.R.T. status, formatting, partitioning, and how to repair your permissions.
