I hate banks. I called my credit card last week to specifically authorize a $3100 purchase from Apple Computer. The added the note to the account and I thought that would be good enough not to kick in the anti-fraud system.

After ErikAndre's machine shipped (same config/discount/state/hair color/blood type/etc) and he ordered his after I had, I needed to do something. So I called Apple again this morning to complain. Apparently, Apple tried to process that authorization yesterday and it failed. The credit card never contacted me about this failed authorization due to the fraud protection system.

So we got it resolved and my MacPro is now "Prepared for shipment".

Hopefully it'll be shipped early this morning so that it might be delivered on Monday (along with my 8GB of RAM and 2 750GB HDDs).

1)Bottom line: dont sell what you dont have.Vanni

C'mon - that makes too much sense. ;) (At the risk of angering loyal Mac-using sales-people,) it's the curse of sales people. You need 'em to sell what you've got, but when they've sold that, they'll look for anything to sell. Mix that in with just one less-than-average management type and you get to selling what you don't have. "It'll be ready soon, right? How about now? Is it ready yet? Now? Quarter's coming to a close, y'know... how about now?"

Feb 4th order date, Feb 26 shipping estimate to arrive by March 3, last name towards the middle-ish of the alphabet, still not shipped, I'm ok waiting, unless they miss my ship date, then I'm going to complain just a little.

Phew... good to hear... now if we only knew how long a "Prepared for shipment" takes to get in the truck.

I just wanted to post my experience and if you have any idea, please let me know...
I have ordered my MP with 8800 and 500BG on Jan 15th. Since I have read many postings which ordered way after me and getting their MP with same configuration, I have called Apple three times. I explained the fact to the representative and all they told me is that I have to wait.
They didn't even offer anything regarding this matter. I was not looking for anything such as discount or free shipping but I wonder what makes this disorganization. Thank you.

Canadian in Waiting

I'm a Canadian up here in Nova Scotia. I ordered my Mac Pro on the 14th of Jan. I originally had an estimated ship date of Feb 13th. Now I'm at an estimated ship date of Feb 19th. I ordered through a 3rd party shop since my friend worked there and I wanted to give him a sale. It's frustrating though since I have to check the status of my order through the store.

I'm not too pleased with Apple in the fact that people who ordered after me are seeing their machines shipped.

There seems to be no point in buying a mac through a 3rd party.

There's no telling how Apple's call center is. They probably have several offices located across the country answering phones and each office has dozens of supervisors monitoring each group of employees who have no idea what the other group is doing.

I'm sure they'll all catch on quick.

Well now that ErikAndre's shipped, I can say I am officially angry.

I ordered weeks before him, with literally the same exact configuration.

But he's going to have his shipped first

I don't blame you... there's no telling what's going on over in those parts.

Changing my order

I ordered my 8800 GT Mac Pro on January 13th.
It doesn't show shipped as yet so I am thinking about changing my order from 3.0GHz X5472 processors to 2.8GHz E5462 processors.
Will this delay my order until June or will it ship before the poor saps who ordered in January?

Just adding my data point...

Order Date: Jan 8, 2008 at 05:47 PM PST
Stock 3.2 with 8800 and no other changes to the configuration.
Just went "Prepared for Shipment" within the past hour.

Paid via AmEx, bought with ADC discount, shipping to sunny Austin Texas.

When I called, from Montreal, Canada, the rep was in Houston Texas! She even spoke to me in French to start!

HELP ME -- run benchmarks on your 8800 GT

We ordered the 3.2GHz with the Radeon HD 2600 XT so we could get it faster and post test results on our website. The same day (January 9th), we ordered the GeForce 8800 GT kit but the estimated delivery is March 4th. Bummer.

If any of you guys receiving a Mac Pro this week or next with the GeForce 8800 GT would like to run some speed tests that stress the GPU, I'd love to work with you via email so we can post some benchmark results here and (with your permission) post them on BareFeats. I'm thinking of such apps as Motion 3, iMaginator, Quake 4, Prey, Halo, UT2004, Doom 3, etc.

Contact me and I'll give you specific instructions along with required test files.

Still no charge, and still not shipped. And they're filling orders from Feb. Why would they be waiting for a 500GB hard drive for a system ordered more than 3 weeks ago?

When I called I spoke to someone in Houston, TX. I'd like to see if that does in fact make a difference?

Hi! First post. :)

I am super upset about this. I ordered mine three days after the show, and it still says it's not shipping until the 21st. Do girls get discriminated against or something? We all know that answer.. forget I said anything. :p

No Brianna, I just recall Apple and I've been told that the new guy in charge for the shipping at Apple is a former chief in a rat test lab. From what I've been told, till your rat (with your name tattooed on is belly) gets to the piece of cheese (with your Mac Pro specs number on it) they won't ship it until it gets to the end of the miniature shipping depot at the end of the rat's test lab.

Good luck!

Well - still waiting.. Placed another call to Apple - I just wanted to make sure there were no problems with charging my card or anything like that. They assured me my order had no issues, so I kept questioning why it's taking so long... In the end the guy changed 2-3day shipping to overnight for me, and said he will send an email through some channels to expedite build process. The last part I think was just a line to get me off the phone - but that I understand. If he doesn't know, there's not a lot he can do. Anyways, just going to sit and wait I guess.

I just received a call from AmEx thinking it was about my Apple purchase and ended up being a survey on that call:mad: Talk about being psyched out

Wow. Yeah, that's probably it. Mine hasn't shipped either and I bought it January 8th. I ordered the 8-core 2.8, 500 gb hard drive, wireless keyboard/mouse, airport card, and 8800. I'd call and change it, but I don't think it will speed it up, I've waited this long I'll wait a few more days.

I ordered the same config (wired keyboard though) on Jan 15th and no change in shipment dates - Feb 21st.

Did they enlightened you?

Just this from my earlier post.
She did say that it doesn't matter how you purchase it, (i.e. - ADC, Military, Employee or other) it all goes into the shipping "queue" which was originally established that it was a "first come first serve basis" ya right!

I can't remember her name?
BTW, I've called about 4 times. So that explains the number of agents.

I'm telling you... it goes straight to the rat lab!
