I can't wait for someone with an 8800 MP to run the Photoshop speed test.

I want to know if I'm going to see any difference at all when my 8800 comes in.

Here you go...

I just wanted to post my experience and if you have any idea, please let me know...
I have ordered my MP with 8800 and 500BG on Jan 15th. Since I have read many postings which ordered way after me and getting their MP with same configuration, I have called Apple three times. I explained the fact to the representative and all they told me is that I have to wait.
They didn't even offer anything regarding this matter. I was not looking for anything such as discount or free shipping but I wonder what makes this disorganization. Thank you.

I also ordered on the 15th and haven't seen any progress. I also called them and had a nice civil discussion about the problem (I'm too nice to really go after them...what good would it do me...what i really want is my computer!).

I know just how you feel. But...if this keeps going on I may just get up enough juice to give them hell on the phone.

Are they making up for lost time?

Has anyone figured out yet whether or not Apple is in the processes of "opening the floodgates"? Are they working out the backlog? Are they clearing three or four days of orders every day? Or are these shipments just a drop in the bucket compared to all the backorders they have?

Seems like most shipments are for week old orders

I've been looking around and it seems that most of the shipment posts I read are for orders placed around the end of January. Am i the only one who seems to feel this way? orders placed around mid January are usually the people whining the most (like me!)

Hi:

Sometime between this morning & noon & got the 'Prepared for Shipping' status.

Sometime between then & this evening I got the e-mail from Apple that it shipped.

Shipment Date:
Feb 08, 2008 Delivers by: Feb 14, 2008

Now, that's standard (free) shipping. I'm afraid it might sit on the loading dock or what-have-you & get picked up by Fed Ex Monday, unless Fed Ex works with pickups into the night, &/or on Saturday.

I've got a tracking #, but clicking to track shows no info.'s been entered into the Fed Ex system yet.

What may interest a few people is that in addition to the 8800GT & the wireless Airport Extreme, I've also got a 1 terabyte harddrive (instead of the 320 gig one).

I know people have wondered how much that matters.

I originally placed my order late afternoon or thereabouts on 1-8-08, the day the MacPros were accounced. Original ship date was Feb. 13'th, to arrive by the 19'th. I'm in Kentucky.

Richard.

I talked to some lady for a while. She said that it is first come first served. I told her this isn't the case and it is a widespread issue. She said someone else just called about it. Then she said that build to order will naturally be delayed. When I said my friends have the same basic config, she said these get built in different places and will vary. But when you order, wouldn't it be assigned depending on availability? So what other excuses are left? None of this explains Apple's database meltdown.

She wanted proof--someone's phone number that shows someone ordering after me and getting it sooner. She said she could then look into the discrepancy. Not sure what to do at this point, but this is pretty frustrating.

I asked if they could expedite shipping, and maybe this is a new development: she said all Mac Pros and MacBook Airs will be shipped expedited. I confirmed if this meant 2-3 days and she said yes. Delays all around?

Well, I am going to bug them again next week if I don't hear anything.

Ordered: January 18
Ships by: Feb 26
Delivers by: Mar 3

You and I are in the same exact boat.
I have the same order date / delivery time-frame as you.
So if yours ships, let me know!

Will do.

I'm wondering what the Apple call center folk are thinking. They have to be getting an influx of calls of this nature. Surely it's been noticed and they are looking into it.

I e-mailed steve jobs about it from my usmc.mil address explaining the entire issue and links to the forums. The expedited shipping and money people are receiving should get someone’s attention! I got next day air and $25.

Awesome!

Steve, if you're reading this: This will be my first Mac ever! Hook a newbie up! :D

Well I emailed God and he said just keep waiting like the rest of you suckers! I can wait one more week, but that's about it. Mine's due to ship on Valentine's Day. Show me some love Apple!

Placed order on Jan. 31st.

2.8 dual quad
2 gigs ram
320 gig hd
8800 gt

I ordered the exact same spec to be delivered to Portland Oregon Jan 15th.

Mine still is "Not yet Shipped"

That's annoying in the extreme - though enjoy the new workstation :D

I'm convinced that someone in the IT department of shipping hit the Ascending/descending button on the shipping next database. I bet his names Murphy, and he's got a PC at home...(what an a&&h***e):D

I know it sounds crazy but from what I've been reading, it doesn't seem far from the truth! I'd hate to be Murphy!!!

At that rate we may never see our MPs? You watch when they figure it out they will restart with JAN 8th and those of us who purchased mid JAN will be screwed!

Is anyone - or did anyone - paying/pay for their MP with a debit/check card from their actual bank account? Not a credit card?

I had extra from financial aid/scholarships and was able to purchase the MP with that. I think most banks now have the fraudulent card issue where you have to call to have them raise your limit for the day... or do your guys' banks not do that?

I had them raise the limit when I ordered the MP on Jan 14th... it went through, but then the charge/hold dropped off a few days later because they weren't shipping. I keep calling my bank raising my limit every day in case Apple puts the charge through, but I'm wondering if they use the same approval code and maybe it'll go anyways? Anyone with the same experience have a better idea about how this works?

I'm starting to give up on refreshing over and over again to keep seeing my status still not shipped, and if I knew the charge would still go through, I might even just take a break from worrying about it for the next few days...

Any ideas?

Brad

I'm still waiting for Pro Tools / Leopard compatibility, but the 8800GT option has said 2-3 weeks for over two weeks now. Shouldn't it be at least 1-2 weeks now?

I guess if you acutally buy one it calculates a "real" shipping time based on zip...

...speaking of which, has anyone from the Los Angeles / 90048 area ordered an 8800GT? If so, what's the ship date?

I know there are still plenty of people whom ordered earlier than I did (mine was ordered on Jan 11th), but my order finally changed to "Prepared for Shipment."

Guessing it won't make it out for a few days considering the weekend is upon us, but it's nice knowing that things are moving. Here's hoping she'll make it out to me (Spokane, WA) here as soon as possible.

EDIT: Just changed to shipped!

Yep... pretty annoying. It wouldn't be such a burn if people that ordered 15-20 days after I ordered weren't getting their machines.

This has been a series of bad luck for me.
I ordered my 8800GT Mac Pro on January 8th.
3 days later I called for the order status.
Turns out they didn't hit "send" when I placed the order.
My order date was changed to January 13th.
Now people who ordered in February are getting their Mac Pros.
I'm still "Not Yet Shipped."

I feel some of your pains - my 8800gt won't ship until the first week of March - but I ordered the card separate from my MP so that I didn't have to wait for the rest of the system.

Oh my goodness, finally! My status has changed to Prepared for Shipment!! Woohoo!

(Ordered 2-2.8, stock with 8800 and wifi on Jan 15th. Original "Ships by" date of Feb 21 to Honolulu, Hawaii).

:D
