You are not alone. If you need support feel free to message me any time. I am waiting for Clovertown x 2 and I agree with you it will happen at the MacWorld SF '07 January 9 SteveNote. 2007 is gonna be the year that everything goes Quad and Oct that can. I forsee an iMac redesign that gets Kentsfield throughout and maybe even the top Mini will get it as well.YoYoMa said:I am really close to purchasing the Mac Pro but it bothers me that when I receive it in September, Clovertown will be a month or so away from release, placing it in the Mac Pro no later than Macworld. That's a MAXIMUM of three and a half months after receiving my $3000 computer. How come so few people here seem concerned with this fact? I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, the Mac Pro is a killer machine and I really am close to buying it myself, but the Clovertown release is holding me back more than any other.
jrk07 said:Hmm, I would understand the lack for front row more if the MacBook Pro did not have it, but since it does and this doesn't I'm a tad confused. Most people who need this machine probably wouldn't see the lack of Front Row as a deal breaker though, so it's sort of a non-issue.
The new aggressive lower pricing on the Displays would support your theory. Only time will tell.Bosunsfate said:Well, if someone hasn't said this already, I think that is becuase the new Apple Displays have yet to be released.
There really isn't any point in putting an IR in this...Rather put it in the dispaly...
Does anyone really use front row or photo booth?
I can think of one application the Mini can't fulfill. Bottom Of Line MacBook Pro Refurb - currently $1549 - With Dual DVI Could Drive an $1699 Refurbed 30" Display For a Super TV With EyeTV2 and a $250 EyeTV 500 tuner. It's about a $4000 setup including a big FW400 HD. But it would be an ultimate media center setup that might be less money next year.digitalbiker said:Does anyone really use front row or photo booth?
I for one don't really care to see what is in front of my computer blazened in sepia or some new photo effect. What good is it really?
And how many people are so lazy that they need a remote to control, itunes or DVD player when they are most likely sitting right there in front of the computer with their hands on a keyboard or mouse?
Apple doesn't need to put these features on a workstation level machine like the MacPro. I can't even see why you would want it on a MacBook or MacBook Pro.
About the only device that makes sense is a Mac mini. Which is so small and neat that you could use it with your stereo system or over-sized monitor as a controller in your component stand.
Photo Booth is a rather silly app. Too much has been written about it that it doesn't really deserve.digitalbiker said:Does anyone really use front row or photo booth?

That means that if you choose the ATI Radeon X1900 XT you can only have that one and you're limited to 2 displays. Can anyone verify this?

card in the mac pro? http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_30459.html
This product overview does mentioned tt OS X is supported by the 7000 series cards, so hopefully any 7000 series cards will just work in the mac pro?

This site oso says tt the 5000X chipset supposedly supports SLI, but i cannot verify tt from other sources? Does this spell the arrival of dual graphics to the Mac!? That will be great for gamers.....

I prefer drving my EyeTV with a Quad G5. Transcoding the recordings down to MP4 is possible. But it's all but a full time job for a Video Junkie. That's why Videoholics like me need 8 cores now.

BTW, I don't think it will bother you that much, just turn the MP upside down.![]()
