From what I'm hearing from sauces Apple has been totally caught by surprise by the sheer demand for these machines. And they just can't keep up with demand at the moment. The Mac is far from dead.

Got my shipping notice!!! This morning it was still processing; tonight I got the notice with the tracking number and the status shows as shipped and I should be setting it up this weekend. I just wish they sent it a faster way than ground; it takes less time to get orders from China...

It's too late for you but as an FYI for others you can call Apple and have them change the shipping to next-day. They changed mine to next-day for no charge.

I needed another order re-routed due to a lazy fedex guy not delivering a gift.. not only did they re-route it, but also refunded the cost of one of the items on that order AND they also refunded my shipping for the pegasus2 and changed my mac pro order to overnight.. gotta love that customer service.

Hopefully this pent-up demand will help demonstrate to Apple the wrong-headedness of their myopic fixation on iDevices.

I can't fathom why Apple would be surprised by the demand. Walk into any design firm, editing suite, or music studio in the world and you'll find Apple computers, and these days, most likely iMacs due to the long delay in a Mac Pro update.

I'm glad that they finally caved in and created a new Mac Pro, and I'm eagerly awaiting mine, but the fact that some of us who ordered custom options have to wait months, when we've already waited years, strikes me as absurd.

I understand the bulk of profits are in iDevices, but Apple has a long history with creative professionals. I've been doing design, animation and music on Macs since 1993. I remember the days when Apple was close to going under.

It's just bizarre for a company to forget that their core user base is. Or maybe it's not. I don't know. I now I'm definitely feeling a little less loyal than I used to....

Seems like Apple is still filling out the first 40 minutes of orders or so. Yours was a 12:37am Pacific. Mine still isn't prepped for shipment and the order was confirmed at 12:55am Pacific.

Doesn't seem like there has been much movement in the last couple of days. Only one person on the tracker had an order go to Preparing for Shipment.

I wish I could figure out how Apple prioritizes orders. It is not a full FIFO system because orders placed well after mine have already shipped. And it doesn't seem fully related to components either as a mix of CPUs (6-core and 8-core), GPUs (D500s and D700s), and SSD sizes have shipped.

The only consistent thing appears to be that no 12-cores have shipped and if you live in Europe than you haven't had anything ship either.

Damn! I'm screwed! Mine was not confirmed until 5:09am Pacific. Still says "Ships in January" but that's probably going to be 1/30 with my luck.

Still waiting as well

Custom order confirmed 3:52 am 12/19/13: 6 core 32 1TB D700; received the "important information" email on 1/3/14, no change yet.

Can't remember what writer called it "spannungsbogen".

I got my confirmation email at 1:34am Mountain Time. 6 core, 16GB, 256GB, D300. Still processing. Obviously your place in line doesn't really matter.

Mac Pro
6 Core
32GB Ram
D700
512GB Drive

Ordered around 9am ET on the day of release. Just got the email it is shipping. HAPPY TIMES.
