Everything is ready to unplug from iMac and plug into the nMP. If only it would get here. Order placed and acknowledged at 3:27am. Just got the same "keep calm" email as everyone else. Well, only 28 more days in January.

Am I the only one who got "March" as a delivery date? 6-Core/64GB/D700/512GB.

What's a country kit? Like a glass of lemonade a guide of making apple pies?
In addition to the compatible power cord, the country kit (a.k.a. destination overpack) would include the Get Started guides appropriate for the delivery address (English, German, French, whatever) as well as required regulatory documentation.

I ordered mine at 12:33am PT. 6 core, 32GB RAM, 1TB flash dual D700. Still no update on the order, but I did get the tease email this morning.

Yes, thanks for reminding me it will ship at some random time this month lol.

When did you order ?

Depends a bit no the device. I could be as little as the correct language for your region for the printed documentation shipped in the box. It could also be that, as well as local correct power cable and keyboard version, etc.

I always, always, always wanted one of the old Mac Pros.

The new one looks beautiful, but I remember being taken aback by how big the old one was. Having an enormous thing like that under your desk has got to give you an extra smile :)

Went to my local Apple Store today and was pleasantly surprised to see the new Mac Pro on display. Such a shame that it was tucked away in a corner at the back of the products section. I doubt anyone else even noticed it was there. Such a shame for such a great new product. Still can't purchase in-store at the moment which is a shame but I'm still looking forward to getting one. Wish they had updated the Apple Display to go with it, even if it's not 4K.

Hopefully it means Apple is moving along with production. At least they're not saying "February."

Damn mine still says February. I ordered mine 1/1/14 though. Wishful thinking.

Yeah, saw one unit by me and it seems like nobody even knew it was there. I keep forgetting the average consumer, has no idea what it is. My coworkers call the MBP a Mac Pro, and they're like "I got one too!" Also did not see a a 4k display. Still looked gorgeous next to the TBD though.

Bleh… Got this email. 12 core, D700, 1tb, 64gb

Only 32GB, why stop there!
third party 64GB upgrades are only $780 or less. Can't rationalize slower single processor score below 3.5GHz. So I'm getting six core, 12GB RAM, 1TB PCIe, 700 graphics for just a hair over $5K with the plan to add 64GB myself for little more than half what Apple charges. But I have no idea how soon my configuration will ship. Because I'm buying it from a third party Apple dealer, it's unlikely I'll know before it's on the plane on the tarmac in China. :( :)

The NSA must have already inspected it.

Making a joke ages after every one has heard it, and heard it again, and again, and again, is not funny.

Bugger. Walked past my local Apple Store just this morning without going in. Very annoying.

Not that I'm the customer for it. Quad core rMBP does just fine for software development. If I was retired with lots of spare time I'd buy one to play with.

The clock speed of the 12 core is lower because of the bizarre way Intel tells you about the clock speed.

The clock speed goes down when you use more cores. When you use only six cores, both 6 core and 12 core run at the same clock speed. With 8 or 12 cores used, the clock speed goes down. Intel tells you the speed when _all_ cores are used, so 6 core machine running at 3.5GHz with six cores is advertised as 3.5 GHz, but a 12 core machine running at 3.5GHz with six cores and 2.7GHz with 12 cores is advertised as 2.7GHz.

In reality, the 12 core machine has 30 MB of cache memory which makes it faster than the 6 core machine with only 15 MB cache, if the same number of cores are used.
