Apple Customer Service

I just wanted to say that Apple customer service has treated me great. I paid for the extra care plan and called them about half a dozen times so far. They answer the phone quickly, are polite, speak English, and get top grades from me.

I can remember the anticipation of ordering my Mac Pro and the wait to receive it. Fortunately it came in early. Now I have that same feeling again, as a new wireless keyboard and mouse are coming in on Wed (two days), and a Mac Mini is coming in on Thursday (three days).

I've been so pleased by my Mac Pro, that I ordered a Mac Mini. In fact I can see myself buying three Mac Mini's. One for the car, one for the boat, and one for the home entertainment system.

Even though Apple is rumored to come out with Quad Core Mini's next month, I went ahead and bought a 1.83GHz Mini, for $499 Refurbished, ordered 3GB of Ram ($70), and plan to goose it up to full spec with a bigger hard drive this year. I'm thinking about the 500GB Samsung drive. That way I can split it into Windows and Mac OS 10 partitions. I didn't feel I needed a SuperDrive because I can burn disks on my Mac Pro. Perhaps I'll add the SuperDrive if I get the urge to tear it apart and upgrade it. I'd more seriously like to get a 2.3GHz CPU but that will have to wait a while until the price drops some more. This will be my Home Theater system, Web Server. It will be fun to operate it remotely through my Mac Pro.

Apple has the right mix of quality products and great customer service.

LOL...I've been up since Friday I think!

Since the Bootcamp install...all is well...for those of us with new Pros and 5.2O/S to boot, those screenshots on the BC install don't look anything like they do if you are trying to install Windows on it's own drive...just pick C:, that's what I did and it worked great...OSX still intact:)

Back to the Pro...what a fabulous piece of engineering...a marvel:D I cannot believe how unbelievable this thing is compared to my last 15 years of PCs. Someone mentioned earlier about the case. Taking the side panel off is something every new owner should have to do! Absolutely essential to take a look at the guts of this beast, even if you have nothing to put into it!
Seriously, for all just getting theirs...pop the panel and take a gander, it's awesome!

I have installed Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro with all of the additional elements and it is such a cool feeling to not worry about HD space...these two programs alone with their peripherals is almost 100gigs!

The monitor is something special in and of itself (ACD 23")! I love it...Windows on this machine is solid and quick...I will be installing FlightSimX from Microsoft this weekend (ironic, eh?) Anyone that knows this program is aware of how taxing it is on any system...it will truly push barriers on the latest graphics and CPU technology and I am excited to see how the Pro handles it. I do have a pretty up to date Windows machine right next to it (Phenom 9600 AMD Quad core w/3gigs of RAM and Windows Vista w/ the same 8800GT graphics as the Pro) and it is only able to knock down about 9-10 fps with Anti-Aliasing engaged and a rez of 1920x1200.

These Macs are special!

I will shut up now...ENJOY!

Mine arrived today just as the Fedex tracker said it would. The wife even signed for it. It's sitting next to me on top of the desk almost finished with the full extended diagnostic that I'm running. When it's done, I'll install the 8gb additional ram and 2tb drives and reinstall the OS. Gotta get some more coffee for a fun night.

Hey nemloc,

You state you were running a "full extended diagnostic". How did you do this? What did you use? I'm considering the purchase of a new Mac Pro with the 8800GT upgrade and consider myself "anal" enough to want to go through a similar process for my own peace of mind.

Thanks for sharing!

When booting the mac, hold down the 'D' key. You will get a blue screen with a diagnostics dialog. You can run a normal test or check the box for extended.
