Tops out at ONLY 640GB? Bwa hahahahaha PT Barnum said it best about MacPros.

The price of a decent used car. Way to blow your money!

I am sooo needing a new Mac, my 24" iMac graphics cars is slowly dieing and the only system I am going to replace it with is a Mac Pro just for the fact I will be able to replace things in it like the graphics card if needed.

New design, please. Get rid of the handles and just put a great giant hook on top. (So I can easily hang it from a crane if I want.)

Also, a new 2560-wide (or bigger) external LED display please! 27” is acceptable, but 30 or more would be awesome. 6:10 or 6:9, doesn’t matter to me.

New user... only anti-Apple posts without facts... welcome aboard :)

New iMacs and Mac Pros? Good for those who want/need those upgrades. Can't wait to see if they will really add USB3 to either models.

Me, I'm just happy Apple updated the Mac mini a few weeks ago. :D

:D

I think the later the update the more likely there will be USB 3.0. If the update is July 27th I don't think there will be USB 3.0. Why? Wouldn't Apple have released USB 3.0 with the new Mac Mini from last month if it were making the transition?

As for Blu-Ray. Never. There will never be native Blu-Ray support or a Blu-Ray drive in a Mac. I wish Apple would but clearly they've gone all Flash on Blu-Ray.

Don't count on Blue Ray. Remember when Apple astonished the public by removing the floppy disk drive? Everyone thought Apple was stupid...

They were right to do so at the time, because alternatives were in the marketplace that could replace the floppy. However, the only other option is downloads. Apple provides movies at 720p, which once upon a time, they did not consider HD. Only after the cost and difficulty involved in providing a 1080p stream, did Apple change their tune on what HD was.

Sure, in future-land, downloads will be the way to go, but until 50 mbps+ lines and 100 GB daily data caps are the norm, I don't think that day is soon.

You can't use your car to do email or edit photos. The only PT Barnum graduate from the school for morons is you. :)

As a bit of a videophile and definite audiophile, it would behoove Apple to at least include it for BTO. No reason not to really. Like someone posted earlier, until we can get full HD and all the high end audio codecs through the iTunes store, there is an apparent need (for some users) to have something like Blu-ray BTO.

The comparison to the floppy disk is not really valid. The discs held little to no memory and were behind the times. However to put it simply... Blu-ray is ahead of Apple's offerings.

I just fail to see why they choose not to offer Blu-Ray as a BTO option and then have their hands so deep in Pixar, whom offer some of the best audio and picture quality on the Blu-Ray format.

I think that maybe Steve decided to deter the Blu-Ray rumors to possibly make an announcement and "surprise" everyone.

Either way, Blu-ray or not, glad to finally see some good signs of an upcoming update.

Very good points you bring up. It just seems like if they were going to add Blue Ray, they would of done it sooner?

Exactly, lets hope we get a BTO at least.

Gulftown, maybe at $3,499?

Maybe the Mac Pro is just heading off to the Business Store only.

Yes! Apple may no longer offer the Mac Pro at the retail stores. They presumably can use the floor space for things that sell at a higher rate. That's probably what this is all about.

Let's also help that the new models are a little bit of a better value proposition, like the 2008's.

Yup, I second this. My 2008 MacPro still runs like... a cat ;D and even though this hopefully new model is nothing short of a monster, I won't update. I really think the 2008 was priceworthy and will suffice for at least 2 more years especially if I add some SSDs and get an even newer graphics card (I use an ATI 4890 at the moment).

I hope apple keep the current prize (well, sure, make it cheaper if you want ;D ) and really release a beast of a machine. Intel's Light Peak, USB3, Firewire3200, 2+ 6/8 core processors, really fast RAM and also some stunning new interior design which makes the computer even less noisy than it is (and compared to the Z600 HP workstation I have at work, it's already super silent).

Make this release pop some eyes!

Aloha everyone,

We have three Apple stores here in Honolulu, and two of them show the Mac Pro as unavailable. Surprisingly, they are available at the Ala Moana Apple Store. I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but wanted to share it.

I thought Apple only makes iPhone, iPod, and iPad?

What are these Macs? =p

They were the computers from Apple Consumer Electronics, back in the day. After reading about these on Wiki, amazingly I found out their OS was the basis for the iDevices today and Apple Consumer Electronics was once know as Apple Computer.

Weird.

Only reason to find Blu-Ray on a Mac is if it's a burner. Final Cut Pro can make Blu-Ray discs, if memory serves. I know Toast can, with the proper add-on. But for playback? Apple would have to have the software. They don't seem interested.

OMG I've waited too damn long I'm getting a pc for half the $!!!!

OMG where are the updates stupid apple

OMGG iPhone sucks.

$3500!!!??? Apple will never sell any of them.

No Redesign? I could design a better MacPro!!!
