Ow dear, I forgot all about the air. Ha ha ha!

Finally...

It was about time, I really want to replace my 2008 model, but I doubt the prices will be LIKE the 2008 model. As of Blu-Ray I don't think it'll happen ( I think SJ said something about it a couple of weeks ago ) :(

interesting......I'll see what they tempt me with.....

Although I'm still happily chugging away on my 2006 2.66 quad core with an ATI 4870....haven't had that "sluggish" feeling to make me want to upgrade yet...

Awesome. Hopefully we will see the same thing happen with the MBA soon, as that is in need of a refresh as well.

Noooo :( I bought a new Pro 20 days ago. Oh well, I'm happy for you guys who've been waiting as this "unavailable" thing seems a more hopeful sign of an imminent update than usual. That and I'll get a choice of a new video card!

They were the computers from Apple Consumer Electronics, back in the day. After reading about these on Wiki, amazingly I found out their OS was the basis for the iDevices today and Apple Consumer Electronics was once know as Apple Computer.

Weird.

Bah. Ancient devices. They didn't even have touch on them!

I bet they weren't even magical or revolutionary.

Blu-ray ain't gonna happen - but you can get a nice external one with USB 3.0 interface.

how much faster will these new Mac Pros be? I will have to upgrade soon. My 8 core Mac Pro is already feeling a bit slow, and Snow Leopard's "Intersection" or whatever it is called has been a total bust.

How many Grand Central enabled apps do you use?

So long since there has been a refresh, I really hope there are some major hardware or even cosmetic updates.. would be nice :]

How many Grand Central enabled apps do you use?

From what I remember every app should be "Grand Central Enabled" from what I've read it was supposed to do the "sending information to the cores" thing for you, instead of the app needing to be written for it.

Yes, very glad to see a more weighty RUMOR on Macrumors, especially one about the OLD AS DIRT 2009 Mac Pro.

Don't count on Blue Ray. Remember when Apple astonished the public by removing the floppy disk drive? Everyone thought Apple was stupid...
Id give up any optical for a freakin working Adobe After Effects/Mac Pro combo :p
CS4 is so buggy now since moving to SL :(

Mac Pro to be discontinued - Replaced by an iMac Pro?

What if (and this is random speculation) Apple opted to stop building the Mac Pro and instead built a slightly thicker and beafier iMac Pro that had some expandable slots, additional hard drives and a 30" screen?

It seems that Apple is wanting to simplify their line - and the MacPro is a niche machine relative to the iMac. I think the strategy could work for most buyers. Then they could offer a higher end tower type computer that would appeal to the real business based power users.
