No, sir, there is NOT, period!!! You have *no* basis whatsoever from which to speak as to my requirements!... no reason to own a Mac Pro at their current price range and configuration. There is something cheaper that will do it "good enough."
Right... and my point was that you could NOT purchase EIGHT Lenovos for the price of one Mac Pro and have them be equal. You obviously did not follow the complete thread.
No, sir, there is NOT, period!!! You have *no* basis whatsoever from which to speak as to my requirements!
I generate video frames, using sophisticated mathematical algorithms, in real time, many times per second, for live audience consumption, fast enough that it looks like live motion. "Just wait a little bit longer for a job to finish" is *NOT* an option. 10 frames per second is *not* good enough. I have spent *hundreds* more hours optimizing my work than you have spent saying that it is unnecessary.
You do not know me. Therefore, you cannot speak for me. You simply do not know what you are saying. Your arrogance is understandable, but frankly is entirely misplaced. Confining your speculations to things that you actually know about might be a bit more constructive.
No, I did. Ever considered the fact that you took that other poster's hyperbole a bit too seriously ?
The fact is Lenovo will give you the same/better hardware as Apple for a fraction of the cost.
"LoL"???LoL. You still don't need a MacPro for that sort of work. It would actually behoove you to move to a machine with CUDA abilities.
There's this neat search feature at the top of the forum. That would be a nice place to start.
Oh, I am supposed to be a mind reader now?
Here is a bone for you... You are right about everything, and so is the guy I replied to who said eight Lenovos with a free OS is better than one Mac Pro with OS X. Logic Pro sucks, and I can do just as good using a four-track cassette recorder.
Oh, wait, was that also hyperbole on my part?
This thread is getting a bit hard core.
Soon people will start comparing their "pieces".
Even though this is rather entertaining to read and somewhat amusing, can we get back on topic please?
If you want to bitch and moan, feel free to email each other or meet up for a coffee/hot chocolate/beer and chat about it then.
Thanks,
G.
Actually, the topic is kind of done. Intel releases and Apple . . uhh . . well Apple . . ?![]()
No, that's why the literary style known as the hyperbole was used, so that it would be obvious to the reader that what was being said was in fact an exageration of a reality that exists.
It's was a common technique used in the "Age of Enlightenment" period in 18th Europe, where a few of the philosophers and writers adopted irony to convey the message about the social changes they were advocating.
Why are you mad ? (I'm not a mind reader, but it's blatantly obvious that this conversation has stirred something up). In the end, Apple charges Apple prices, Lenovo charges less for equivalent hardware because they refresh more often.
That's a reality you need to accept if you're going to be an Apple user.
Yes, it was. Though I'd say it's more that you're somehow pissed off at something. Leave the emotions behind, everyone is simply trying to have an objective discussion here.
http://www.electronista.com/articles/12/03/06/hp.z420.z620.z820.hint.plans.for.others/ HP first with Xeon E5 workstations, hints at 16-core Mac Pro
HP's 16-core new Xeon E5 workstations can be quite affordable?
Apple should realize that more people would buy MacPro's but the pricing has been just insane![]()
?
Have you really compared prices? if you put comparable systems together you won't find a huge price difference ... i just checked the prices of the hp machines .. i found machine easily in the 7000 region .. so same as for the Mac Pro (except for the SSD prices @ Apple - wich are "a bit" out of date, but after more than 1,5 years of not updating anything thats no wonder
so i'm hoping&waiting for a new Mac pro until April and than i'll have to consider buying a HP machine![]()

If anything, this thread is living proof that the MacPro is still very much alive in the hearts and minds of a sizeable portion of this forum's members.
Let's hope that Apple is aware of it.
Pricing and availability
The HP Z420, Z620 and Z820 Workstations are expected to be available worldwide beginning in April. Estimated U.S. pricing starts at $1,169 for the HP Z420, $1,649 for the HP Z620 and $2,299 for the HP Z820
What HP prices did you look then? HP Starts at 1,169 and cheapest MacPro starts from what? 2,499 with 3gigs of ram and obsolete graphics![]()
There will be 16-core MacPro introduction in April. Lets see how many times Schiller repeats the word "amazing" when he demonstrates it![]()

If anything, there's not going to an announcement. It will just pop up on the site after a maintenance period on a tuesday morning.

But after which Tuesday do "we" actually give up hope of a release, absent any word from Apple? 467 posts doesn't exactly overwhelm Apple from a sales point of view. Each week that goes buy now without word dims the chances I think.
As a Hackintosh hobbyist I would prefer that Apple releases OS XI for the masses. With couple of official drivers, OSX runs in 99% of worlds post 2005 pc computers easily, at least with GPU upgrades.
I seriously believe that would increase massively Apples market share of operating systems world widely. We are talking about 20-30% share here. That would mean +200% for AAPL
Pricing? hmm with iLife I would pay 199 eur/usd easily.
I agree, but it's not Apples' style unfortunately even though it does make some sense at least along the lines of high end stuff. They really need to show their cards, one way or the other, very soon, at least in an attempt to show some sort of respect for the old guard so to speak.
