Using Finder I trying to move about 10k files between folders on a network share, and since it takes so long, I step away from my computer to work on other things.

When I return, the Mac has fallen asleep and maybe a few thousand files have moved, so I have to restart the move.

Is there a way for Finder to keep the computer awake during file transfers?

I could do some command line magic, but Finder is so much more convenient that I'd rather stick to using Finder for this. I could also run another program like caffeine or caffeinate, but this question is about using only Finder and nothing else.

I'm using macOS 26.2 on an M4 Macbook Pro , if that matters.

Finder should be keeping your Mac awake during files copies. I just copied a file from an SSD to my Mac and ran:

pmset -g assertions

on the terminal, I can see Finder is keeping my machine awake to finish the transfer.
