Makes more sense to release the updated Mac Mini first at WWDC 8-12th June. These require no M5 Ultra. And M5 and M5 Pro is what the Mac Mini will have with the updated LPDDR5X-9600 memory chips already going into the other M5 releases. The M5 Pro Mac Mini will probably be the bargain Mac with respect to the 64GB RAM memory configuration.

Perhaps Mac Mini probably doesn't have the cooling to support the M5 Max, so I don't think that's likely, otherwise people waiting for a M5 Max Studio might be satisfied with that in a Mini. However, Apple wants to reserve the Max for the Studio.

Then we will for sure see the 2nm generation A20 processors for the iPhone 18 update. A big uplift.

The end of the year will see the M6 built on the new A20 platform in the MacBook Pro. Possibly with a new generation LPDDR6 memory chip, 24 bit wide interface instead of 16 bits. Plus possibly higher speeds. That means M6 Pro and M6 Max. Doesn't it seem more reasonable that the top end Mac, the Studio, should get the M6 Max too as it could do with big jump in bandwidth over the M5 series? This sounds worth waiting for.

Maybe a staggered release? Studio with M5 Ultra and M6 Max configurations. Similar to today's M3 Ultra and M4 Max. Or just cancel the M5 Ultra.

With how blazing hot the Mini has been lately being out of stock due to the Open Claw AI boom, it would be nice to see a new M5 Mini.

If true total BS by Apple :apple: not having desktop flagship. What ever happened to Apple amassing a large quantity of RAM and Cook being the master of the supply chain? Apple is taking too long updating premier products.

Basically hyped up by fanboys believing Apple has some strategic reserve of DRAM and NAND. Apple prides itself in JIT, so it's at complete odds with the current situation. Money is money and product goes to the highest bidder.

Cook already said Apple would be significantly affected after March 2026.

Keep in mind, the iPhone and the MacBooks are far and away the biggest money makers for Apple. I like the Studio and think it is important, but it is just about a rounding error in the revenue that Apple generates.

The PC market has been real bad and It seems Apple is going that way too now.
I think the failure of the once high and mighty Intel has shaken the high end pc market. Quite a bit.
I am waiting Patiently for an m5 pro studio I can get away with the pro not the Max with 64gb ram and 4tb ssd.

Well, the upcoming AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 will have 192GB of unified RAM (192GB of LPDDR5X spread across eight 24GB SK hynix modules) according to multiple leaks. That's well into Apple Studio territory.

This is just getting ridiculous now….
Max ram on an Ultra 96GB (but in about 3 months)
Max ram on a Max (with better cpu) 64GB (likewise).

That is ridiculous, how do they expect anyone to get real work done with the small amount of RAM. I am suffering along of M4 Max with only 128GB of RAM which was a huge mistake on my part. There is no way I would buy another box with less that 256GB.

yeah A.I. created a nice supply shortage. it may take 18 months to catch up.
If you are going for a new studio whenever it comes out. get at least 4tb internal ssd and 512gb ram which means $$$

Yeah…the same seller has 3 specs listed (£14k, £20k, £35k)…all refurbs.
Hope he didn't buy those at already-inflated prices and then try to profit by simply flipping them.

Although the market is always alive for items in short supply, e.g. think back to COVID and supplies, when the new Studio arrives, it's likely to completely blow away the older M3 Ultra. And since Studios aren't on an annual iPhone-style release cadence, people really should wait.

Seems dodgy….but the third image shows the spec etc from Apple.
Can’t imagine someone paying 4k extra for ram, but not upgrading storage for £400 (2TB) or £1k (4TB)

Back in the day when I built one of the first computers for my printing/pre-press business I spent 6K for 128MB of RAM.

Yes that was MegaByte. And you guys think RAM is expensive now. You were spoiled by the low price of RAM.
Back in 1989 I started working with Autocad V10. By that time, for Autocad to work, you would need an Intel 80287 Math Coprocessor that you plugin in a socket next to the Intel CPU. If I recall correctly, I paid something like $150 for it. Remembering that, makes you realize how cheap computer parts are these days, including RAM, CPUs and GPUs.
