Maybe the studio isn't a permanent part of Apple's lineup?
I hope it is. I love it. It's the first time in a while that Apple has released something new that filled this niche on the desktop.

"virtually" everything? So by your own admission, it doesn't actually handle everything you need. You've answered your own question, you need UltraDo people really need Ultra? I have Mac Studio with M1 Max and it handles virtually everything for me....
They're going to have a long, long wait. I don't think there will ever be another 27" iMac.As soon as they release a 27inch iMac this thing will go the way of the cube. Most people that want a desktop also want a decent screen and the iMac offers much better value in that regard.
"Need" is a vague term. I don't "need" my M1 Pro MacBook Pro, but it makes some tasks slightly faster and it makes me happy. If I had a lot more money I might convince myself I "need" an M1 Ultra. I have a friend who did just that. No way he "needs" his Mac Studio for the work he does, but whatever.Well yeaotherwise noone would buy it

And that is the “carrot” that Apple waves in front of us with the Mac Studio."Need" is a vague term. Well with that definition noone “needs” an M1 mac, period. An intel core 2 duo CAN do what the M1 can, just far, far, far, slower."Need" is a vague term. Not really. People that never worked in high volume manufacturing should stop making comments like this.Have you tried to buy a new car recently? You would be crazy happy when dealership offered you a 2 month delivery.
As for the main issue - looks like a fake availability issue to pump the sales.
Most of the companies bin chips based on what kind of chip is needed, performance vs energy consumption. It would be interesting to see what are the yields for these M1 chips and how many can they actually make.
The Mac Studio is anyway a low volume product while the M1 Ultra is a server grade chip in terms of size. Developing such a chip exclusively for such a product is generally not worth it.
The ports being in front were a selling point to me, but I can see why some may prefer a cleaner front.I'd have loved the Mac Studio... if it didn't have those blasted ports in front! Keep them in BACK, like on the M1 Mac Mini! Ugh! 🤮
Does putting the ports up front make it easier to charge phone/ipad, etc though? I kind of like that idea.I'd have loved the Mac Studio... if it didn't have those blasted ports in front! Keep them in BACK, like on the M1 Mac Mini! Ugh! 🤮
It does. I also like using it for a USB flash drive and the dongle for Logitech's peripherals. I have found the Logitech stuff works better when the dongle is in the front as opposed to the back.Does putting the ports up front make it easier to charge phone/ipad, etc though? So buy a mini, if you value aesthetics so much. The studio is about performance and functionality first.I'd have loved the Mac Studio... if it didn't have those blasted ports in front! Keep them in BACK, like on the M1 Mac Mini! Ugh! 🤮
Depends on your needs I guess. For instance I do NOT want to go the back of my box to plug-in my DJI Drones for file transfer when I don't want to remove the card (MavicPro2). I do not want to search the back for a port to connect my Gnarbox Backup drive from my daily field work. I do not want to go to the back, if I want to quickly charge my phone while I'm working... etc., etc., etc.I'd have loved the Mac Studio... if it didn't have those blasted ports in front! Keep them in BACK, like on the M1 Mac Mini! Ugh! 🤮
I want them on the bottom, like the Magic Mouse. I want to have to actually lift the machine in the air to plug anything into it.I'd have loved the Mac Studio... if it didn't have those blasted ports in front! Keep them in BACK, like on the M1 Mac Mini! Ugh! 🤮

I think you missed my rather thick and blunt sarcasm somehow.Yes…this comment is correct…but
you hear a lot of people say “people don’t need all of the power…”. As if they are telling Apple that they are developing and creating to much power for users that is not necessary or telling them there is no need to do this.
Average users have the Mac mini or MacBook Air. Some of us do things that require CPU and GPU power like scientific calculations, 3D rendering, video work etc. Those who are actually “Pros” where time is money or need to get projects out at the shortest time possible or they loose business NEED the power and speed.
Internet, MS Office users, social media junkies and self-y picture Narcissus users don’t need it.
I think I missed it because I read users on this site constantly say that people don’t need the power and it is over kill. I have worked with under powered macs for too long and now have something that is not limited or throddled down due to heat or purposely limited for various reasons…I think you missed my rather thick and blunt sarcasm somehow.
I mean, come on "special super genius hero award", how much sarcasm does a man have to pile on!I think I missed it because I read users on this site constantly say that people don’t need the power and it is over kill. Apple keep it coming!!!
Um, you didn't look at my sig, did you? Rafiki: "Look HARDER..."So buy a mini, if you value aesthetics so much. The studio is about performance and functionality first.

As a matter of fact I didn’t. Signatures don’t appear by default in mr if you browse it on an iPhone vertically.Um, you didn't look at my sig, did you? Rafiki: "Look HARDER..."
