Sorry to hear that your dad got taken. It was a pretty good fake outside of the few items that some have mentioned.

well if it functions as a phone (i.e., you are able to make and receive phone calls) then it is a real phone.
just not a real iphone.

hope your dad didn't pay through the nose for it :( but if he didn't, you got yourself a nifty little gadget. next time mind what y'all buy in China, deals too good to be true can be had everywhere.

well since this post got some action now i will provide some more pictures.

The touch screen is perfect on it with the slider working. And the penguin icon is a chinese game.

When you flip the phone on its side the screen shifts like a real iphone

Can someone tell me what this type of connector is called? it is the same as a blackberry one but smaller

like i said before the bezel comes up to high on the bottom, as a stock iphone all the icons have labels below them, the only app that the screen rotates in is safari or pictures and the text on slide to unlock is very different from the original iphone software

Sorry if someone already caught this, but looking at the "slide to unlock" at the bottom of the "the OP's iPhonie" and it shouldn't be all capital letters! B/C what I'm seeing is "SLIDE TO UNLOCK" at least on my iPhone it's definitely not capital letters...(One of the best iPhonies I've seen, but someone needs to get their money back, if they can).:(

OP can you go to settings>about and tell me what it says in there??

i hate to say it but your phone is a fake. Apple doesnt make ipods or iphones with 4pin usb connectors only the 30 pin connection

ok i have a question now

Does anyone have or have seen an iphone that connects via a port that looks like this:

The only ones I have seen connect via what looks like an ipod connector

I feel sorry for you. That is totally 100% fake. Did you buy it thinking it was real? If so, you got scammed. :(

Also, to answer your original question: We are probably not going to be able to help you with this phone since it isn't an actual iPhone.

OUCH...i really hope your dad didn't spend too much on them.

and the chinese never cease to amaze me with their knock-offs, its amazing how close they've gotten it.

oh and if you can post a video of the phone functioning, the apps, slide to unlock, etc.

but a fake is still a fake. forgive me if i start sounding a bit wet, but a fake has no soul, apple's driving force during development was to make a great phone that would kill the world, the developers of this phone were driven by greed, to get in on someone elses success...and those attitudes show in the final products

it's a shame about how the OP's dad got scammed, but i can't believe apple will let this go now that it's on the english internet.........

I'm sorry the OP purchased a exceptionally good fake - Everything about the unit appeared Genuine with the exceptions of the USB port and other cosmetic features.

The biggest problem Apple faces is copyright infringement, since China doesn't have enforced copyright laws, or copyright laws (period). It's gonna be practically impossible for Apple to bring counterfeiters to justice, especially in China!

This is the risk of manufacturing in China.. I'm sure most western companies already know this but if they continue to put cost of production and profit in the forefront, some customers will be caught with counterfeiters goods.

My condolences to OP.

And that connector doesn't look like a std mini USB connector. Looks like the one for Nintendo DS.

Wow. I'm genuinely sorry that your surprise present was a fake.
Although, as others have been saying it is a HELL of a FAKE and there's really no way, without being a serious apple fanboy, that your dad could have known.

I'd keep them. You never know; might be worth something some day. Meanwhile, take advantage of the $199 offer and go buy yourself a new iPhone next week!

I would love to see a video of it in action; you can tell a great deal of effort has gone into it.

Hey can the OP post a photo of what it looks like when you click the Settings icon? I am curious what OS that thing is running. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if it could be setup with BlueTooth and managed with iSync and/or Bluetooth File Exchange?

I just made a video using iMovie HD but how do I post it?
the extension is an ".iMovieProject" (I have never used iMovie before)
What is a suitable extension that I could make it so I can upload it to this form?

PS here is a pic when I click on the settings icon

I don't think MacRumors forums hosts video. You'll need to host it somewhere else (like YouTube, etc) and provide a link in a post here.

Race is right, MR doesn't support videos. Use iMovie HD's "Export" capability to get it in a nice format (MPEG-4 is good,) then upload it to YouTube.

P.S. in Photo Booth, go to the Edit menu, and choose "Auto-Flip New Photos". (And you can highlight an existing photo and choose "Flip Photo", as well.) I don't know why it doesn't default to flipping. WHile "mirror" mode might make it easier to compose a self-portrait, mirrored images suck to deal with after the fact.

good call RaceTripper I got it to transfer files via bluetooth from my mac using bluetooth file transfer.

Thank you sir.

At least its a cool looking mp3 player now. If only I could get it to sync with my iCal I would be all set.
