Well I predicted this would happen but I didn't think it would be so quickly. The lid no longer lays flat.

What do you mean by this exactly? Can you post a pic?

Edit: Sorry, pic didn't show up first time I read your post, I see it now.

I've been researching cases for DAYS

and this review put me over the top. Thank you to everyone for sharing.

Although, all of you must have bought them up because they are sold out everywhere! I had to bite the bullet at the MacAlly/iUnitek site since they were the only one I could find today with this case in stock.

$49.99 + 8.44 shipping + tax = not exactly a great deal, but I wanted it to arrive before I get my 3G iPad next week.

I ended up order from onsale.com with the macally flexfit case. $53 shipped for the two. The flexfit has shipped but the bookstand is on backorder.

I just received this case and it's excellent.

Don't see why anyone wouldn't like it.

Of course, I just go it so only time will tell.

I didn't like the Apple case very much. Just seemed a bit odd.

whatever.

What made you think this would happen? Were you really squeezing the case when you had the cover open such that it took on the curved shape of the iPad?

All of you getting the case so quickly is making me regret ordering from Antonline via Amazon.

Yeah, I now completely regret ordering from Antonline. They didn't get it out the door until the 3rd business day and it appears to be travelling via the Pony express. I'll be lucky to get it Monday. I ordered from them because their distribution center appeared to be relatively close (GA to TX), but I didn't realize they were going to give the package to some guy to hitch-hike across america to get it to me.

DOH, i just got a notification email that it is NOT in stock until May 19 here as well. So i went to eBay and found one for $50 shipped. Hopefully, this one will get here on time.

So I'm trying to buy a hand-made sleeve to carry my iPad around. I want to carry the iPad inside the Macally. Can someone with the Macally please tell me the dimensions of the iPad with the Macally case? This will be the measurements I use to order the sleeve instead of measurements of the original iPad. Thanks!

I thought it would happen because the lid is not very stiff. It's not formed by the shape of the iPad. It's because the leather sleeve presses up in the middle when the lid is flipped around flat on the rear. The middle is raised and the edges are pressed down by my leg or hand when I'm using it on couch.

so this happened to mine after a couple days also, but it took a total of 0.5 seconds to correct. just bend the edges back down either manually or let it sit upside-down overnight, not a huge deal IMO still the best case out there.

I'm curious about what kind of larger case/bag this would actually fit into. I've seen videos for this case and for the Apple one, and to me they look more like thin sleeves (which allow for angled typing, etc) which you would really want to put INSIDE a sturdier case.

I was thinking maybe something like a Hard Candy bubble case? The orange feet inside are velcro - you could just leave them out, and the MacAlly Bookstand-encased iPad could fit inside this large case.

Or is that just going overboard a bit?

Case cover warping issue

I concur with DSchwartz, and think this belongs to "nitpicking" category in terms of problems. I just received my MacAlly case from JR.com (now showing backorder status, placed the order last week when they show pre-order") 10 min ago, the case came with that upward warping pattern fresh out of the package, but just like how you adjust the baseball hat lip, all it takes is a quick bend downward, and the shape is back to flat like a pancake. The front cover is definitely softer than the back, which is literally the grey plastic you see at the 4 corners with suede glued to the back, and microfiber glued to the inside. I kind of wish that they used the same hard plastic to line the inside of the front cover though, which would have certainly solved the warping issue:p

I do see the complaints regarding the corners not being secure enough when grabbing the cover only leads to danger of shaking the ipad out, which perhaps roots to the slight misfit due to the plastic rim (including the 4 corners) being too rigid / flat, vs the curved back portion. In another word, although the back was intented to fit the curved back of the ipad, and it largely fits, except that the very edge of the back unit stopped being curvacious at the very 4 corners, so the corner "claps" do not "perfectly" wrap around the corners of the ipad to complete a perfect hugging. This perhaps also contributes to the slight "short" reach of the front cover to the very right edge fo the ipad when casually close it. Frankly, I think these are non-issues, but YMMV. I'm very happy with it. I do strongly advise NOT to grab the cover only and sling the ipad around in it for a rodeo show:p
