Yea, my ANTOnline order just shipped today...not that I have an iPad to put in it anyways, but still!
Any chance of the plastic corners to scratch or mark up the finish on the iPad at all?
Any chance of the plastic corners to scratch or mark up the finish on the iPad at all?
As I mentioned in a previous post, ive been taking the iPad out of the case a couple of times a day, and I've not noticed anything on the corners. While I thinking anything is possible, marking up the corners is highly improbable.
Thanks so much for all the feedback so far.
I have a question though. If you hold the case with the iPad in it upside down (w/ the 2 sides open of course), is there a chance of the iPad falling out of its snap?
Anyone know where I can order one for immediate delivery?
Does MacAlly even have them in stock?
You can buy mine since I don't like it![]()
Just an update for those that ordered through OnSale. I placed my order with them around 11am yesterday, it is now showing as "shipped". Im not sure if I got my order in before they sold out, they got another shipment or are really back ordered.
Does anyone with this case know if it will fit in the dock with the case on? I know it is easy to remove the case but if it fit the dock with it on, even better!
Dave
I received mine from MacMall. I've got mixed feelings. Compared to the Apple case:
Pro:
- Nicer feel. No rough edges
- Exposes more of the iPad
- Looks better
- Doesn't pick up grease and gunk
- Lighter in weight
- Easier to remove
- Speakers open
Con:
- Flap gets in the way. Over time, I expect the flap to be required to keep the front of the case flat on the screen. The Apple case has a stiffer, heavier front cover as well as a slightly stiff spine that sort of forces it in place. It's hard to explain but the Apple case has a kind of snap due to the weight and spine that the Macally lacks.
- The spine is floppy, not stiff at all. This means it moves around when the case is open and locked in the incline position.
- The misfitting mentioned earlier of the front cover. Be warned if you are the exceptionally picky type. It bothers me and I'm only mildly picky compared to some others.
- Flap is hard to get in and out of sleeve but I expect this to get easier over time.
It ends up being a pretty straightforward choice of functionality vs. look and feel. Apple is more functional in every way except for the covered speakers. But the Apple case makes me think I'm holding something cheap and the Macally better preserves the hand feel of a naked iPad. (that sounded dirty)
Just a note on this - I ordered from Provantage on Monday and it still showed as backorder. Called them and switched to another supplier that has it in stock.
I got the bookstand today. At the campus reseller that I work for at my college. I really like it. I have been using it all day since then and I have to say I like it better than the apple case. And on top of that, I really liked the Apple case. I never found anything wrong with it, but after seeing the Macally case, I fell in love with it. The fact that the grey outside matches the brushed casing, that just appeals to me. Also the fact that when I close the lid, the microfiber cleans the screen all on it's ow. With the Apple case I kept finding that the cover would pick up dirt, and then lay it on the screen. So now having this, I really like it.
The case is a clean fit, and it shows off the beauty of the iPad without catching dirt in all the edges. I like it.![]()
Will the Ipad still fit in the case if I put a Gelaskin on the Ipad?
