someone said the dell can use both of them... that is not true because you need to select which one to include in the 13.3 model..
anyone else
so your saying the Dell can use both but you have to choose?

Seriously.
OP do you really expect people in an APPLE forum to know anything, or care about, a Dell ninetywhateverhundred?
Great, another arrogant, ignorant unhelpful moron....
Both nice machines, one is intergrated gpu one isn't as stated but for non gaming purposes won't make too much difference. Go for whichever your pulled towards!!
ddr3 ram vs ddr2
1066mhz fsb vs 800.
1inch thickvs who knows but its damn ugly
illuminated keyboard vs not
5hr battery vs probably 3-4hours
alluminum vs plastics with fancy names.
Don't bother even considering the 2.4GHz MacBook. It is overpriced and performs only marginally better than the 2.0GHz model.
That said, if you want to play games then the XPS will do it much better than the MacBook. The XPS is clearly the better looking machine, but the MacBook will feature better build quality.
Other than that, it's just a matter of which one is better value for money.
I take it your into "leather" then ?
. The XPS is clearly the better looking machine,
Yes.......if your Stevie Wonder...............
Hmm, I'll revise what I said. Closed the MacBook is better (albeit it does have a hideous black stripe all the way along the back air vent), but when the computer is open (and really, this is when appearances really count) the Dell is much nicer looking, mainly because inside it is all black and doesn't jump between black and silver and black and silver.
Mac = PC. PC is short for Personal Computer, a Mac is still a computer, uses the same parts as a Windows/Linux machine, it's just shaved down into a minimalistic notebook with OS X on it. Either way, you ARE a PC.The real question is can you live with yourself saying "im a pc"
epic fail.
but seriously Dell fans like to come here and boast how amazing Dell is all the time which is why Dell is going bust. In your case as the computers are so similar in terms of hardware this is really another Windows Vista vs. Mac OS X debate which noone can answer, its like asking who made the universe.
Don't forget the Leather "accents"
when you are customising them in dell you cant have both of them in the laptop, it just let you choose the 9500 by an extra amount of 100$

I've read about this combination as well. Hopefully someone will dig more into what the situation is on the XPS.On the notebookreview.com forums there are some people saying that the nvidia 9500 discrete chip isn't actually a 9500 chip, but some wacky combination of a 9400M and a 9200G that nvidia calls a 9500. No idea how accurate this is, but it's better to wait for some official reviews in the off chance you're considering an XPS.
When you compare the cost of a Dell and factor in the additional software, memory, and other extras you have to buy to go along with it, the difference in price between the MacBook and the Dell isnt as great as most people believe. And because the MacBook comes with so many built-in applications that youll enjoy using for both work and play (rather than useless freebies youll want to uninstall), a MacBook makes good financial sense.
Finally, a MacBook is built with the most cutting-edge technology by some of the smartest hardware engineers, software developers, and product designers on the planet. So youre getting the latest technological advances and a computer that isnt in danger of becoming obsolete anytime soon..
It's your choice!
I have a 2.4 Aluminum MacBook that I got in October and my sister has a 13.3-inch Dell XPS that she got last spring. Prior to getting my Mac I was a PC guy all the way. My observations:
1. XPS is a nice machine, but the aluminum of the MacBook is nicer and feels more solid.
2. Trackpad on MacBook is much better than Dell.
3. My sister had issues with Vista out of the box including BSOD. The virus software that came pre-installed was not even fuly compatible with Vista and caused issues. I also had alot of issues trying to upgrade Vista to the latest service pack and still have not resolved it for her.
4. Dell came with a lot of crapware installed on it that slowed down the system.
5. OS X has been great for me with no crashing at all to date.
Overall I think that the experience with the MacBook has been superior. I cannot comment on speed differences as I have not run them side by side. I also have not compared the screens side by side, but the Dell screen is very nice and I think runs at higher resolutions.
Just my two cents.
